Well, a friend of us mentioned that the "buttom dollar" store is good for a food shopping. So then we tried it. Indeed she's right. a $100 for food shopping will be alot if you will go to that store. And like for just me and my hubby, sometimes $100 of food shopping in that store is enough for a month for us. Which is really awesome.

Not sue exactly where you live but is good to find a dollar store that sells food below the price of a regular store. I am glad that you found it and glad that it helps your budget for food

I try not to buy any canned foods anymore. My SIL still keeps buying the stuff but he is the only one to eat it. Some dollar stores have a fairly decent frozen section. Ingles has had bread at 87 cents a loaf with the Advantage card for a long time. I bought 10 loaves and froze them. I should not run out this month at all.

I wish that there was a store here that is similar to that. Although if you would compare the amount that I shop to yours, mine would be a lot smaller coz of the dollar conversion. But really, $50 in a week is small for a family of 6.

My family needs atleast $500 a month for the basic necessities. Good thing that we do not have to pay for rent coz the house is owned by my inlaws and they also take care of the kids' tuition fees.

I'm not familiar with that particular store, but I have done some food shopping at the local dollar type stores here. Some of the prices are good and some not so good. A hundred dollars a month for two people is great! I don't do that well for just me, but I do try to eat organic as much as I can.

It is really great to spend $100 for a month. We do save a lot because of that. Maybe in the future this store will get to your place. Maybe :)

We don't have that kind of store in the area that I live in. However we have a Save A Lot grocery store that is within walking distance of our house and that is one of those places that I can take my grocery budget to and get a lot more food than we need to get through a week without spending all of the money in my budget. The only thing that I don't particularly like about that store is that there are a lot of times that they don't have the products that I would like to be able to purchase.

I wonder why they dont have it in your place. I know there is a "buttom dollar" in pennsylvania too. The store is really good. From fruits to meat, milk, eggs, frozen foods, ice cream, cheese, bathroom stuff, they all have it and it is really cheap and are very good in quality. Sometimes me and hubby will spend like $60 for a month even. We do really saved a lot bcoz of this store.

Hi Bluebutterfly! Are you in the US? A hundred dollars doesn't buy much where I live, even at the dollar store. Any dollar store that sells food here is still oretty high. I had my family go to The Family Dollar store when we first moved here. Big mistake. I could have gotten foods and non-food items cheaper at Ingles or Walmart. I spent $103 yesterday at Ingles and I got 3 big packs of meat. I got enough stuff to help us get through the rest of the month. The soups I make last about 3 days. I made a stew with a brisket of corned beef. It's so good. It's to die for! The corned beef brisket cost about $12, but it's cheap when you consider the stew lasts us for 3 days. The flavor of the corned beef is all through it. My SIL buys those one serving entrees and pot pies. I am not fond of these at all. I got sick of that cheap stuff. I want real food. When I got paid on the first I spent $330 and change. We still have a good lot of that shopping trip left but running out of some stuff. I hope what I bought will last. I also bought nonfood items at Walmart which was 36 tolls of toilet paper for each of our two bathrooms. I bought 3 - 10 packs of paper towels and some other stuff. That came to nearly $100. I only have about $60 left in my budget; I hope I don't have to buy anything other than milk and crystal light.

Hi Pointless! Yes im in US. In South Jersey. The store is called "Buttom Dollar". Where are you at in the US? This store has really cheap foods but good quality. They have bread for $.85 which is really awesome. They have those chicken legs that just cost $5 or $6 with 12 pieces on it. We love food shopping in this store.

I do most of my shopping now at supermarkets, I prefer the bigger ones because they have the lowest prices and most of the time they have really good offers. I would say that just for me my monthly shopping bill is about $100.
