Since we were out for 65 days and stayed at son’s working place; our roof top garden and the other in front of home was neglected; the person who was appointed to take care vanished after taking 500 rupees from my daughter in law.
Today I engaged another man, we bought some flower, vegetable plants from the horticulture department, manures, micro nutrients, pesticides from shops, he is now cleaning the weeds, and the gardens will be back to life soon.

I usually pass time sitting there in the afternoon; hear my favorite songs; this gives me kind of satisfaction.
Do you have a garden in your lawn or roof top; do you enjoy sitting there?
Do you take care of it yourself or you have hired a gardener?
From where you buy the plant etc?
Please respond and share your experience.

Thanks in advance. Professor Dr. B.Saraf. PhD.
Cheers have a lucky day ahead. March 16th 2013.

Hi Prof ! Gardening indeed is like a therapy , you'll forget life's hassles while doing your gardening . I have before varieties of flowers in town , they are my outlet and when they bloom i felt so fulfilled and it makes me really happy but when i left to live in the city ,since i can't bring them , they all withered bec only rain showers them , no one took care of them . So sad for them , since then i didn't have any plant any flower even in pots.

Yes, we have a garden all around our home here in Wales (UK) and I enjoy it in the warmer months, but our climate isn't as yours as we get lots of wet weather and cold weather in the winter time. I have two large lawns to be kept neat, and lots of flower beds and shrubs. Have included a phot of our floxgloves from 2011 - there are lots more to come this year as they have spread. Hope you are well my friend. _Derek

hello professor,
every person has a favorite nook in the house and having a rooftop is very nice. we once had a balcony in the second floor and almost all comes there in the afternoon for tea or games or "siesta". when everyone of the sibling got married and had their own houses, this balcony was extended, a roof made over it and it now serves as a big living room for my mom.
have a great day.

We've attempted to have a small garden in our front yard but we've never really been successful with it. I think the reason that we haven't had more success is because of the health issues that my husband has been dealing with over the last couple years. Most of the plants that we've put out in the front yard have been cuts that my mother-in-law has given us from her gardens. She has some beautiful landscaping on her property.

I have dreamed of having just a simple house with a garden in it just like the house I grew up with. But since we have moved in this house in 2004, just days after I gave birth to my 4th son, we never had any plants around coz the whole place is cemented. We live in a compound with 2 other siblings of my husband. It has a 4 door apartment. The rest of the place used to be the parking space for the trucks that my father in law used for his construction company.
I wish of having plants here to give more life to the place. But since my husband has lots of pigeons and also there are hens, I am sure that they would just be perching on the leave of the plants.

I have a small garden in my house. Although it's small, I used that small space to plant the small varieties of some plants. Although I have mostly cactus because they have some resility.

I like to have a beautiful garden with lots of flowering plants especially the hardy bougainvillea. After moving to my new townhouse I've created a beautiful landscape for my garden and spend most of my time there as there are 101 things to do even it is only a small plot. I've never stop scouting for new plants to add to my garden and usually go to farmers market as they have competitive prices there. Since I don't have a regular gardener I only depend on the one that offer their services once a month to do the grass cutting and trimming of plants.

We have a garden of fruits, veggies and flowers in our yard. My hubby and I take care of the whole yard ourselves. We work on it at least once a week for about three to four hours. We have to water every other day due to it being the dry season at this time. We have so many things growing at any given time. We have mangos, Plaintains, bananas, breadfruit, starfruit, cherry tomatoes, green peppers, avocadoes. We also have pineapple, oranges, lemons and grapefruits tree that haven't bloomed yet. We just planted corn last night. I'm sure there are other things we have but I can't think of them now. We also have white, white with a touch of pink, red and pink roses. We have marigolds along with mint and rosemary growing in our yard. It keeps us busy but I consider this my workout and I love being able to eat from our garden.

Dear Professor- I'm so sorry that happened to you! We too have a garden in our backyard. In fact the whole back yard is a courtyard garden complete with an apple tree, beautiful flowering crab apple tree, lawns with pathways, a bonsai tree rack with 30 trees and a pond with large waterfall that looks like its fed by an underground spring.
We do all of our own work unless it looks like something dangerous or too hard on our 56 year old bodies, then we call in the professionals.
It is a beautiful place to sit and admire without to much interruption. But we have automatic watering systems and a water garden to collect the rain water. Two months would be too long for us to not have someone caring for it.
