Recently i came along this article which said that 2 people one running the other walking at a fixed distance lose equal fat. This did not sound true to me because i think you use more energy while you run rather than walking. What do you guys think?

I had to look it up for an answer. As I've heard similar things. I actually prefer my scooter, I've an online friend that calls me 'scooter girl' because I like to run around the city on my scooter. Here is an article that I found. I think running will giver you a better 'high'. I also like dancing...http://www.thatsfit.com/2009/07/08/does-walking-or-running-burn-more-calories/

I think it could be possible in a way depending on how you are walking. I know I have been told that walking is one of the better ways to exercise as well as one of the easiest forms of exercise. Especially if you have other health issues that make it less possible to do other exercises.

This is sort of a half-truth or a misunderstanding of the facts.
It is not the distance that matters but the level and duration of the exercise which is important.
This article should give you the proper medical explanation and facts: http://thechart.blogs.cnn.com/2011/09/23/which-burns-more-calories-walking-or-running/

Hi,
It may be true, walking and running uses the same body parts, namely, the legs. The perception that running burns more fat because of the increased muscle exertion can be misleading. There's no scientific study to establish the fact, rather, it points to the same result garnered from such experiment. Walking, climbing up stairs or doing things fast or slow uses about the same amount of energy as far as human activities goes.

I've read somewhere that walking is the best form of exercise. It is also the exercise that just about anyone can do, in fact it is the easiest form of exercise.
I think that if a person walks, he or she can lose or burn about the same amount of fat as running. But the walking needs to be done properly. If a person walks and swings his or her hands while walking, then it is almost the same as running/jogging. I think that one can always switch between running and walking, as long as he or she is comfortable with the form of exercise.
Happy mylotting.

I have heard something like that here. Many dr. even say walking long is far better for you.
