Have you ever made a mistake that destroyed your life?

I lost my job in 2009 and moved back to my hometown. It seems to be a move a that ruined my life. I haven't been able to find fulfilling work with a salary that pays the bills. I have been struggling to even afford the basics I need. My hometown is a minimum wage hell hole so I am wondering what I was thinking in moving back here.
The place I lived previously did offer a better, although not good, job market for my field. I can't believe how stupid I was in making this decision. I wish I could go back and tell my past self to stop and think about this decision.
Has anyone ever made a mistake that essentially ruined your life and were able to make things right? If so, how?

Hi Palmtree,
I made the same mistake for other reasons but now it`s too late to go back.So my advice is to think about your future. You are very young and life is in front of you.If you can`t find an appropriate job it`s better to move back or to look for a job in another place.I don`t think your life was ruined.Take this mistake as a lesson or a sign of a good chance to change your life.

Hi friend, sad to hear about this, your topic clearly shows that you are regret for your past mistake. Don't think it ruined your life, just find out the alternate and try your maximum to change your life. There is no use in worrying about the past, so think about the present and future and find solution for your problem than regretting about the past. Wish you to get a great job in the near soon.

is it too late for you to go back where you were, or are you just completely that out of money. people think they can't move because they won't have anything when they get out there. i say, you might as well, if you can't get anything where you are at.

Ah, mistakes - sure I have. Many people have made the same, but what's important is how we respond to it. When you lost your job, you were likely wanting to find something familiar - nothing wrong with that. However, since it hasn't panned out for you financially, you can still decide to change your situation yet again. Is something/someone keeping you there, i.e. family, friends? Look for your own niche somewhere else, i.e. create your own business, if feasible. Or access a government program that helps people in your situation out.
