I am the youngest of a family of nine, now there are just three of us still living. My sister was 90 years old yesterday and the family and a few close friends had a birthday party for year last evening. She is very active and her mind is quite good. She has her own apartment in the basement of her daughter's house does all of her own work, and loves to read. Three years ago she was very ill and even the doctors did not expect her to get well but she surprised everyone by making a complete recovery. I talked with her this morning and she is starting another year with the same positive attitude that has brought her this far.

That's really great.Happy birthday to her and I wish her good health.I think the reason she is still so active is that she does all her work on her own.My grandfather 87 years old and he is also very active. He goes for a walk in the morning, does gardening and water the trees. He never lies on the bed in daytime unless he is feeling sick because he says that the more rest he takes the more stiff his movements become.

Hi Pose: What a beautiful news, specially that you mentioned that she is doing well and that she recovered from this health situation like in a miracle. This a beautiful blessing for you and your family and I wish you and your sister may share time for more years to come.

Hi,
Belated happy birthday to your sister. It is very nice that she is living independently and don't give any trouble to anyone. She is very strong to face the illness. I wish she will have happy and healthy life for many years.

That is truly amazing! I wish i can reach that age but of course hoping to be well and not a very old hag creating havoc in the household! Hahahaha
i do admire people who reach that age. Some believe that people nowadays have s short life span than the people who lived before us.
Happy birthday to your sister!

Wow that is a wonderful age to reach, sounds to me as she loves her life of independence and refuses to give in and is a all round fighter! Maybe we should all learn by her attitude, I hope she had a wonderful birthday! I hope that my mum will live to 90 too!

Wow, is nice that you still can have your sister and Happy Birthday to her. She appears to have a very strong immune system and she still has a lot of love to give.

Congratulations on the longevity of your family and yourself! It has been said that, "those who live long live well!" This is obvious from the way your sister recovered from a serious illness and went on to make a complete recovery!
Best wishes for many good years ahead!

It is great your sister lives to be 90 and is still hale and hearty. She perseveres in moving about and does what she is able to do and loves to read,it is just the way to keep fit.It is really a blessing ,my mother is 92 now.She has a good appetite and can still take care of herself.

hi dear Pose I am so glad your sister is in such good shape in this real blessed old age. Glad you had this birthday party and could visit her. I hope to have the same positive attitude once I grow old and I am doing my best now to get there, not to growing old but to that positive attitude of course.........
have a blessed Sunday

I feel there are people who can actually still look young at 90. The stress of life makes people old faster. Those who live long have good health and good attitude. It's simply inspiring hearing people turn 90, it's worth to celebrate!

Hi averygirl, Thank you for your comment and I agree. My sister still takes an interest in the world around her, reads all sorts of books, and has her favorite TV shows which she follows unfailingly. She is mindful of her health and likes a walk, but will only go outside when the weather is warm. Blessings.
