We moved to our first house in 1998 and bought a tv set several days later. It is a 30 inch TV with unknown brand. To my surprise, it has not given me problems. I once thought of trading it in to a new model but on second thought I changed my mind again simply because we seldom watch TV. Most of the time my kids and their mother stay at their grandma durrng the day. We go back home at night. When we sold the house, we still keep the tv an some other furnitures.

Yes, that's great for you too. If what we need is only news and entertainment, we do not need to buy new models with advanced features. Modern TV now comes with various additional functions. For example, you can insert your SD cards to your TV sets and enjoy your work from your SD card.

Mine is not branded one. I am sure branded TV should last much longer than the one I have. I have been thinking of having Sony TV, which is famous for its great picture and sound. It is the price that has not enabled me to have one.

This is great!! There are very few things in life that works well for over a decade (even if used less frequently) :-) BTW you should have posted a picture of your TV. May be many generations later if someone joins myLot from your family, they will be amazed by this trivia of your family :-)

Hey my tv is 17 years old. Lol.. Still it working very well. Now-a-days tv dont work as they use to do earlier. My cousin bought new yv recently but replaced it 2 times. Afterall old is gold. We cant get better quality in new tv. I also told my dad to buy new one but he explained everything very properly then I changed my mind. My relatives ask us to change it but I deny and it is not that necessary.

I know that new models have more features like recording ability and so on. You can have micro SD plugged into it and have your video and pictures shown on your new TV screen, right?

I do think a lot of products produced twenty years ago can last much longer than the new high-tech ones. I really hope you will enjoy your new TV for a long time.

I do hope so. Thank you my friend. You are right about old products lasting longer than 10 years. New product with high technology cannot last as long as the old ones, I am sure.

The lifespan of TVs in my home is about 10 years. As the TV is much cheaper now, we do not like the repair the broken TV, usually we will change the new one instead. Three years ago, as we have the internet connection in my home, all my family members changed to use internet to get information and watch TV programs. Two TVs had been left there without use for three years. In your case, your TV quality is quite good, much better than common ones. I hope you can have good time with your TV.

That's great. I also have my old TV sets for 15 years and it is still working (though I bought a new flat screen) One of my oldest appliances is a 6 inch cubic feet Whitewesting house Fridge it's 17 years old and still working good. Proper care will give our appliances/furniture a long life.

I wish I could afford the flat one. It is costly now. Looking forward to its price going down soon. Thank for responding.

Hi, we also had a TV of 24 inches, and it was working well. We were using it without any complaint for 10 years. But my son bought a new LCD TV and gave us as a surprise gift. So we have to sell it. But our washing machine is 21 years old. But still it is working effectively. We have to some nominal repairs for it. My son wants to change it but we refused to change as it working nicely.

Washing machine for 21 years? That is great. You must be a careful person. My washing machine only last 7 years because we left it outside. Thank for responding.
