Hi guys, I am just curious on how do people got a job on Odesk. This is my 1 year of being a member and I haven't got any job yet. Also I did 2 test already and passed thankfully. I just took the SLideshow Product test and I passed. I am totally ignorant about the test and yet I tried my best so I can pass it and I did. Btw, did you really submit a scanned copy of your ID and your bank certificate? P;ease enlighten me. I would like to try Odesk.

I have not submitted a copy of my ID and bank certificate to Odesk. I joined the site back in 2010 and was able to get a job within a week. I earned about $30 that time so I felt thankful and wanted to take Odesk seriously. Unfortunately, after that job, I was not able to get one after until I decided to just give up. I have not visited the site after that.

This happens a lot in many other websites as well. As because there is so much competition it gets quite hard to get started initially. The first few jobs are quite hard to get and needs a bit of luck as well. After that its all up to the way you are working and the customer feedback.

I tried but I stop at the ID submission and banking stuff because I am worried about the security of oDesk. Is it really safe?

Make it sure to pass first the ODESK readiness test. Fill in your qualifications and experiences.. online job experience is a plus... for newbies bid for a lower amount .

I too was a bit suspicious of the inquiry about an id so I decided not to do that. I did eventually receive an invitation to an interview by an employer so I don't think its a prerequisite. I have stopped using odesk altogether now because I never really did manage to get any work on there. But my guess is just to take as many tests as you can, bring your qualifications up as high as you can and make sure that you seem appealing to a potential employer. They want to get the most for their money so make sure you stand out among others. Other than that I guess you just need to be patient.

I registered in Odesk and like you, I still haven't landed any project yet. I only had a few interviews and active candidacies and that's it. I even have applications that are more than a month old now. Its really hard because I think most clients prefer the experienced one with tons of Odesk hours. So I decided to stop applying and looked for other sites that offer online jobs.
