To travel greyhound or not to travel Greyhound...

That is the question....
I just read on Yahoo! News that all these pasengers got a refund for a few roaches crawling all over them and throughout the bus. Yes, disgusting, but they won't hurt you, and that is a light deed compared to wat I been through on the Greyhound buslines!
In July, I travelled from Canada to Texas to see my friend Kay. The portion of gettin there was fine and dandy; however, the trip back... I went to the station in Waco TX and someone from the Greyhound Station cancelled my return ticket in Detroit for when I had to get a reissue going to Texas. I was unaware of this situation while going to Texas, and enjoyed my time in Eastern Texas, until it was time to go back home. I was miffed when I found out that my ticket had been cancelled, and they told me that I should have been aware of it. Yes, I should have been told this, but no, I had no knowledge of my ticket ever being cancelled. I was fuming by the time I left the tivket booth to call head office. They apparently could not find my reservation, and I knew they did, because I caught the gentlman on the phone in his lie. He said there was nothing they could do for me, and I let them know that I was a lone travelling female, in which I do travel alone. Guys, for 2 days I was stranded in Texas! I was scared, and felt so helpless.
So how come these people of NY can get a refund for a few bugs crawling all over them, and I can't as a stranded lone female trying to travel back several thousand miles back home? I think is BS!

I have taken Greyhoud across the US a couple of times and never had any kind of problems like bugs or anything else. After hearing your story they should have immediately put you on a bus on your way home. Did they do anything nice for you like putting you up in a hotel/motel at their expense? They should have done that and given you your trip home for free.

No they have not. I was on my own; but at least I found a nice hotel in the area. But, that's not the point.... lol

I travelled by Greyhound in Canada about 12 years ago. I had no problems. It was no different than a British National Express coach journey.

I don't live in country that has roaches however in Queensland, Australia I have seen them. It sounds disgusting they had them crawling inside a Greyhound bus. Yuck! You got stranded in Texas for 2 days so that was awful. You should have had a refund and some money as compensation.
I live in the United Kingdom. I have traveled to America and one time had to go on a Greyhound bus due to the local buses not running on a back holiday. It was a short journey. I traveled on Amtrak and didn't get a good impression on their time keeping. I hate it when a train arrives 5 hours late at around midnight.
Arriving into Salinas at midnight I was offered a free taxi or a free hotel room for the night. I took the free taxi to Mon trey. I felt embarrassed arriving at the youth hostel so very late. Going back down the coast I arrived in LA Union Station at midnight. It was scary but plenty of police were around. I took a bus for two hours to where I was staying.
