hi mum and dad, my baby is a year old now and she doesn't know how to walk yet. she cruise all by herself from point to point but she doesn't take one step forward. We even hold her hand during play teaching her to walk but she wants to let go and just crawl. I am not worried though because baby's progress varies from child to child. I am just excited to see her on her own..

My daughter was walking by 10 months old now my son might be a different story. He is now 6 months and doesn't crawl but he also has inward feet that will get better over time hopefully. A lot of babies are different and it can take till past a year for some to learn. Walkers or so,etching for the,to push vs help with the legs to get stronger.

yeah they varies. but I can see that my daughters legs are strong enough when she cruise its just that she doesn't have confidence to take that extra step. I will be delighted to see her standing on her own and seeing her do the first step.

My son hasn't started crawling yet and. Know my daughter started at 6 months. But with him he has positional feet so it might take longer since they are inward.

Yes, you are right bellelady...each child has different behavior to start walk, but don't worry your child will go walk immediately after she is sure that she able to walk on herself. Based on your information, your daughter is independent child that want learn everything by herself, it is okay, this behavior will continue until she comes adult and it will help you support her easily.

yeah she is beginning to be on her own. she gets around by herself just fine by cruising or crawling. and as I've said I am waiting till the day she will make that big steps. That is one of the biggest milestones I am excited with.

Hi bellelady, my son attempted to walk when he's going by the end of the 11th month He was a bit earlier than her cousin sister who is 23 days older than him. The nurse told me to feed him rice paste with bilis fish powder, prepared from the popular local tiny dry fish here. It's rich in calcium. I think this helped in strengthening his born
Happy posting

I don't know what food is a good source of calcium except for milk and she is now starting to be a picky eater.

My two daughters walked between thirteen and fourteen months if I remember correctly. My oldest granddaughter who just turned seven last week walked on Mother's day when she was just 14 months. She was sitting on my lap got down and walked. It was amazing! Then my second granddaughter who was 1 years old on 12/31/12 started to walk last month. She started off holding on to furniture and then started taking steps here and there and now she is walking. Your daughter will be walking before you know it. Then you will be having to keep four eyes on her at all times. That is when they really start getting into everything.

yeah. she is a curious one too whenever I let her crawl around she grabs and throws and make the things and surrounding in a clutter. I give her a lot of toys but she often just want to play in the shoe rack and remove all the shoes from the rack or sometimes she open the cabinet and take off all my folded clothes, its kinda a lot of work at times. I put her in the walker but she is quite tall and she often finds ways to step out of it.lol.

My first born was like that. He seemed to take all his time to walk on his own. But his next brother was totally different. Right after his first birthday, he just stood up and started to walk on his own. Maybe seeing his older brother walking made him want to do the same.

My daughter was cruising at 6 or 7 months but she broke her leg so it hendered her walking abilities. She got her cast off before she turned 9 months and then she started walking like nothing ever happened. Her pediatrician says babies who walk before they are 12 months old are very early walkers. If they don't walk before 15 months, then they are late walkers and should see a specialist.

Yes, children vary in such accomplishments. My mother said that I was a year old before I walked, but my daughter walked at 8 months. Her brother was not as fast, but he, too, beat my one year.

My first daughter gave her first step the day of her first birthday. My second one was slower, bur the was tubbier than her sister. Each child has its own pace for everything. My second daughter did not learn to talk well until she was almost 3 years old. I was very much worried. She is now a lawyer and a judge. Needless to say, she has full command of language.

Lol they really do go at different times. My first was walking by 7 months, couldn't stop her at all. Number two was 14 months before walking on her own! The other two where around the 10 month mark. Potty training seems to vary as well. I am at that stage with baby 4 and she is killing me with the back and forth. One day all she wants is panties and to go potty and then there is today when she won't even look at them

The age at which a young child will start to walk unassisted is something that does vary greatly between different children.
With my oldest child, my daughter, she started walking when she was just 10 months old. Thus when my son was getting close to 10 months old, I expected that he would take off and start walking at any time, but he was nearly 13 months old before the first time that he started walking on his own.

each child is different, some walk earlier, some later..my niece walked all by herself @ 10 months old and my daughter learned to walked without support 4 days before she turned 1 year old. before that we leave her alone and she just stand there and afraid to take a step but after a few days, we are surprised she just walk around. also i can see children 1 year or so and still doesn't walk on their own but as time goes by they will just learn and walk and progress on their own.

You are absolutely right, every child is unique in its own way. Therefore,
they also progress differently. My mum used to tell me that all her eight
children progress differently. My eldest brother learn to talk quite late,
about three years old. I have one sister who learn to speak very fast.
My eldest sister and my second brother are left hander. So, do enjoy
seeing your baby crawling because in no time she will be busy running
areound.

my son learned to walk on his own when he was nine months old. It was fun and exciting and also scary knowing that he'll fall or trip anytime, but all babies will experience that.
Just wait and see, your baby will soon walk before you know it!

my little girl was about 9 1/2 months when she started walking, she is so tall everyone always thinks she is older than she really is lol i think she picked it up pretty quick because i used to babysit her 3 yr old cousin so she had someone to learn off (besides her daddy and myself) i have just had my second so i am interested to see how she goes when she gets to that hurdle :)
you are absolutely right, every baby develops differently, my little sisters bub didn't walk till she was about 13 months
it doesn't really matter when they do it, its the joy and absolute pride you will feel when you watch your little one take there first steps that counts ;)
