Last week I went to attend a birthday party of a seven year old. We all were chatting around the park having good time listening to good music. Then the mother of the kid said that they are going to have special performances by everyone . And it would begin with the elder sister of the kid who should be 12-13 years old giving a dance performance. And then the mother comes to me and says that I should dance as well. Though I dance at competitions in my college but I felt i was too old to do a solo dance in a 7 year olds birthday party. May be 4-5 years back I would have done it happily. But now I am 24 year old doing my MBA. But the mother was very reluctant. And in the end I had to do it.
So how often has it happened to you that while doing something you have felt that you are too old for it...

H mavic.
Thanks for your encouragement. But I still prefer to be on the other side of the stage in birthday parties. They did not record that performance but I can definitely share with you my other performances that I gave in the college.
Thanks for your response and have a nice day !!!

Hi mavic.
I was talking about the dance performance I gave with my college mates in an Inter college dance Competition. But yes, there is altogether different fun in dancing spontaneously.
Have a nice day !!!

Hi shames you are just 24 years. Why are you thinking you are too old for dancing? I think you are in the correct age to have fun and enjoyment. Hope you enjoyed a lot in the b'day party as well as all the persons had more enjoyment with your dancing activity.

Well sishy understands how I feel. I don't have problem dancing along with people of my age group or on stage of my college but not in front of small kids or school children. People did enjoy my dancing. In fact I loved it when in the end I danced along with everyone (the elders), in group to party music.
Thanks for your responses and have a nice day !!

Thanks for this discussion.
I have never danced in any party or occasion what ever it may be, i don't think there is any age for this, it depends upon ones's mood.

Hi professor.
Well that is kind of weird because it is almost next to impossible to keep oneself from dancing. At least in the marriage parades, may be you might have danced. And I talking about any solo performance or that on the stage but just some casual dance. Anyways thanks for your response and have a nice day ,,,

i think it does not matter if it is a children's birthday party, sometimes we just got to do it for the kids and others on the party. so they will be entertained..but people have different beliefs and feelings so it varies for people. this is all i can say..

Hi jadoixa.
Actually it is not for the kids. Because kids usually play here and there and I doubt if any of them actually saw me dancing. It was mainly for the entertainment of the guests. Anyways thanks for your response and have a nice day ....

I always hated this stuff on children's parties, even when I was a kid. They-the parents or some budybody other parents-were forcing every kid, even the ones with strage fight, to have a production...
I'm 23... and I would have refused, I guess. They shouldn't tell me to dance on a 7-year-old's b-day party... they shouldn't tell me what to do, even.

Hi dorofee.
Well unfortunately I have problem saying no to the elders out of respect. And they actually requested me and that too because they knew that I am a good dancer. But asking to do it on stage might be a little more but still I cant just plainly say no to their face. Anyways thanks for your response and have a nice day...

Riding kiddie rides in amusement parks I think is too old for me. And I think I am way too sissy to get on the more challenging ones, like roller coasters with ridiculous loops. I do think that one is never too old to have fun, as long as you do have fun as well and not just for someone else's fun.

Hi Raine.
That is a very interesting line indeed. And it is very true. One is never too old do things that he or she likes but gets old for doing thing that others like. I too love to hop in one of those scarier fun rides at amusement park. Thanks for your response and have a nice day ...

Hi kalav.
Well singing is something and dancing is something else. Even I can sing in any birthday party. But to dance, I would prefer not to. I wonder if you would agree to dance on stage all alone... Anyways thanks for your response and have a nice day ...

I would have felt too old to do a performance dance at a 7 year old child's birthday. I feel happier when I have had time to get my ideas in my head of what I am going to do. My worst night mare would be singing. I am tone deaf and my singing sounds terrible.
I went to a 5th birthday party and the tune of Gangham Style came on. I got up and danced to it alongside my 3 year old daughter.
I was teaching a Year 1 and 2 class. I had to dance with my class of children at an Easter event for the villagers. I felt really embarrassed and ashamed.

Hi maximax.
So you had a similar experience. But as I am a good dancer I got lots of applause. So I did not feel so bad afterwards. However, I would still prefer not to dance in such situations if given another chance. Anyways thanks for your response and have a nice day ..

I honestly don't think any age is too old to dance, act silly or have fun! We are never too old to show our skills either. =) If you had fun, then you were not too old for it. I just feel like we only live once so we should have fun while we can, even if it feels a little weird at first. Lol. I hope you had fun anyway even though you felt too old for it.

Hi lovingmybabies.
Well I will be honest. I did have fun and enjoy it. But I feel a little embarrassed when I am called upon stage to give solo performances on birthday parties of small children.. But then yes, you are right..
Thanks for your response and have a nice day...

You're still young. Yap, it's an awkward experience to dance for a children's party when you least expected that you'll be doing it in front of the crowd. But it happens once in a lifetime and it will surely be a meaningful/wonderful experience that makes our life more fun. Hehe. I also feel embarrassed when I try to dance in front of my nieces just to make them laugh. Anyways, I also dance when I was younger.
