if both these shows came on at the same time on different channels , which will you choose to watch.? If i were to be asked this question last year , i will probably choose AI but this year , if i was really presented with a choice like that , i will watch "the voice". Somehow AI just falls flat with me , there is no more of the sense of rooting for competitors and identifying with which one is my favourite, i have lost interest totally. and it has a lot to do with the current batch of judges, not a single one of them is interesting enough to deserve my attention, they are all boring, low key, to the point of uninteresting. even the judges themselves seem to be giving that impression, look at mariah, and nicky , so predicatble , so diva ish , but can;t say any thing interesting, just same boring statements recycled and rehashed but as interesting as watching grass grow.

I've been a fan of American Idol since its inception.... Until Nicki Minaj became one of the judges. I just don't like her (sorry Nicki Minaj fans) so I stopped watching the show. I like The Voice though I saw there's gonna be a new set of judges (please can't they just stick with the original coaches). So far, The Voice is my choice.

I watched The Voice's newest episodes with Shakira as the judge. I do think Christina is still much better :) But I love Usher though :)

Neither, such shows are ruining TV. The broadcast networks will continue to lose ground to the cable stations as long as they have so many shows of this type.

name of the game have always been about ratings , wherever the audience goes thats is what shows will be produced, not too long ago sit coms were all over the place, not that many singing competition shows, things have moved on a lot

Personally, I enjoy the Voice more anymore as the competitors are a lot of times older and do not have to try so hard, and are coached directly from the coaches themselves as in what is Best for them to sing. They do not get a song thrown at them from a genre they cannot sing, and do not have to act so crazy. I know if I was a singer I would rather want a chance with The Voice than American Idol if I were younger.

I watched many seasons of the American Idol when Simon was there. When he left I stopped watching the show and started looking at the other singing shows and have watched The Voice. I have heard The Voice is going to have some new judges, so not sure I'll watch it.

Neither.... I have not struggled to reach the top of the food chain to have my intelligence soiled by this drivel. All these shows, that drag the "special" people of the streets to entertain the rest of us are an insult to human history The Mayan astronomers, Greek philosophers, Roman organisation, Da Vinci, The Industrial Revolution and Everyone that has ever voiced an idea are being disrespected by this TAT..... Just my opinion...

escapism is necessary fot the soul, it is precisely because we are at the top of the food chain brought by our intelligence and awareness of self that enables us a capacity to be entertained that brought us thus far. why so serious, just entertaiment..not everyone is a LEONARDO or Socrates or another Henry FOrd or Andrew Carnegie in the making, Not everyone can appreciate Shakespeare or Bethoven either, give a thought to the rest of those who gain pleasure from shows like this..what about their needs to have an escapism from the daily grind..

I'm a bit bored with American Idol now. I don't really like the judges, especially Nicki Minaj. The 2 seasons that I liked the most are the times when J.Lo and Steven Tyler were among the judges. They're the best, you feel like they are really sincere in coaching and mentoring the contestants.

i'm sorry but jlo and tyler's judging is boring, they are too kind to the contestants and i feel like they are afraid to give bad comments.

OMG you are hysterical and so right! I have watched American Idol from the beginning. Last year I truly thought it was the best ever. This year I tried to watch and only maybe watched three shows and just couldn't go on watching. The judges especially Nicki Minja was getting on my nerves and it just lacked alot of what the show had years before. So to answer your question I would definitely go with the Voice. I love that show because its all about the voice and not what you look like.

i think the current season of AI is boring not because of the judges but for the reason that there are only few interesting and talented singers. what i like about the voice is the concept that you judge the person not based on his looks but his voice. though of course it still is a popularity show.
