My house is very dusty. Even though the room door and windows are closed, dusts pill up within a day. I try to wipe down and clean as often as I can but I just can't get rid of dusts. Is there any product which can keep things dust free? How can I reduce the dust in my room?

It's hard to say without knowing more about your circumstances. Is yours an old house? Do you live on a dirt road? Do you have two stories? Dust generally comes from two sources: Through the windows and through the ceiling/floors. If your windows leak air, they'll also leak dust. Check around them (inside and outside the frames) to make sure they're tight. Check your door frames, too. If that seems to be tight, you'll need to look upstairs, whether it's a second story or an attic. It's no fun cleaning an attic, but dust accumulates there and falls through miniscule openings into the rooms below. You might want to consider adding insulation to help keep the dust from sifting through, too. If you live on a dirt road or have a dirt driveway that stirs up dust, you can hire a truck to oil the portion that's near the house. That keeps the dust down and out of the air.

Our room is on the second floor. There is no attic. We live next to the main road, not dirt road but there is traffic. I guess that is why. The windows are tight but the doors do have a bit of gap at the bottom.

I didn't mention the weather, but if you haven't had much precipitation, dust stays in the air longer, so it has a chance to move inside and settle. The doors might be a part of your problem.

Can you imagine what I go through each day since I live in Puerto Rico and my windows are open 24/7 all year round. So I'm dusting everyday. It is never ending. I even try to close the windows in my bedroom so I don't have to dust the dresses or nightstands but then my husband complains that he needs air coming through the house. I should really make him start dusting then I bet he will say "ok lets close the windows in the bedroom."

Dust is annoying don't you agree? I fell sick last week and could not do much cleaning. The dust started to gather and now there is a thick layer of white dust on my furniture. I have to squeeze in time for cleaning with tonnes of other things to do.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i can understand your situation very well as i can relate your issue with mine. I also face the same situation and in order to handle the situation i try to do dusting every day and if not every day i do it once in every two or three days so that the mess does not pile up. u can go for this policy. What say?
