Do you sleep in when you can?

For the most part, I can't any more. My husband leaves for work at 5 AM and during school, I have to get my daughter up at 6 AM (school starts at 7:30 and I try to drop her off by 7:15, earlier if I have something I need to do in the morning). She is NOT a morning person, but I am, so I have learned that in order to have an easy morning with her, I have to start waking her up early so she can have breakfast and get dressed leisurely. When we rush, she is a pill and she gets grouchy and so do I! So... I pretty much am up around 5-5:30 every weekday. On weekends I generally meet people to go on long runs, so I'm up pretty early on the weekends as well. As a result, I have discovered (sadly) that I can't really sleep in any more. Sleeping in for me used to be staying in bed, SLEEPING, until past 9 or 10 AM, or later. I regularly wake up just before my husband's alarm goes off now at 4:15. Even on weekends I usually wake up around 6. I now consider 'sleeping in' to be maybe 7-8 AM lol. Some of my friends who stay in bed till 11 or noon are horrified. I must not require very much sleep or something, it's not like I fall in bed exhausted at 7 or 8 PM. I usually stay up till 10 or 11!

I'm retired but I still don't sleep in. I'm usually awake by 8am and out of bed before 8:30am. Ready to take care of my dog Cody and my African Grey bird Daisy. Sleeping in for me would be sleeping till 9 or 9:30 but that rarely happens. I can't sleep more then seven hour because then my lower back starts to hurt. So I have to get out of that bed or the pain will get worse. I can't believe anyone can sleep till 11or 12 that is crazy because then I would feel like the day is half over.

In the summertime, I like to be outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. So I don't like to sleep in late during that time. We don't get much warm weather out here, so I like to take advantage of it by getting up earlier in the summer time.

I have three kids under four. Whether it be weekends or weekdays, I can't really sleep in. I'm up at the same time as them, if not before. I'm usually the one up with them. My husband isn't a morning person. So I don't have much of a choice.

I try not to sleep too much. I try to wake up everyday (regardless the day of the week) at exactly 6 o'clock. I feel if I don't wake up early, I feel I've wasted too much time. But I do take naps in the noon time to energize me. So at night, I sleep around 11pm or 12midnight, and I'm good to wake up at 6 again. Guess moms and wives will never have more time for sleep. But it's not really "work" for moms, it's out of love. Have a great mylot experience ahead!

I, on the other hand, am a person that always sleeps in when it is possible for me to sleep in. I mean in the mornings when there is school I will get the kids up and after they've left for school I will lay back down for a few more hours. I'm not a morning person and thus I sleep more during the morning and early in the day. I really do think that this is a direct result of the fact that I used to work third shift and it has screwed up my internal clock.

This is how life is. When we have a job and a family to take care of, we are ought to sacrifice a part of our life for it. But I can assure you that it is worth your while. It is the life that most parents have to live with and if you think positively, it is not really that bad too. By the way, I remember seeing some articles talking about sleeping too much would shortens one's life span. That is why I generally sleep 5 to 6 hours a day and the most important sleeping hours is around 11pm to 4pm as that is the time when our body replenishes itself and repairs.

I have two sleep in days during the week, Tuesdays and Saturday's, I do find however that with my medication I do need a lot more sleep, and tend to need more than I did when I was younger. I prefer to stay up late at night, as I am more nocturnal thus I will sleep through to the afternoon. When I worked, I always preferred shift work and would choose to work the afternoons or evenings when I was more active and alert.

Can't sleep in M-F due to children in school and work, but I try to on the weekends. Most weekends 8:30 seems to be the magic number, and I often can't sleep past that.

I try to sleep in but I can't really do that very well because my body has become pretty programed by my job. I usually have to work at nine in the morning five days a week so I am pretty used to getting up around eight o'clock. When I do sleep in I usually don't sleep in longer than ten o'clock which is still pretty late compared to what time you are used to waking up. Anyways sometimes I wish that I could sleep in later because I close at my other job quite a bit and sometimes when I close I am working until one o'clock in the morning. As long as I can get about seven hours of sleep a day though I am usually feeling pretty good and happy.

Hi mommyboo! My two children can sleep till noon, I don't know where they get that habit. Because even when I was a child, I do wake up very early. The good thing though is that if I have time during weekends, I can take a short nap after lunch. Have a great day!

I never sleep in. As the business owner here i work 6 days a week. My only day off from cafe is sunday. But since I need to clean, wash cloths, church and spend day with my son. I still get up then at 415am. So, no sleep in days ever for me. Maybe someday.

I only sleep once a day, and thats it! In rare exceptions I tend to take naps, but when that happens it usually means im quite sick or something like that! Maybe when I get older I'll start to sleep more...

You have a lot of responsibility. I still don't have a family so I can still sleep in on weekends. I have a job on weekdays so I wake up early in the morning. I'm also up by 5am on Mondays to Fridays.

Normally, I am awake by 6:30 am and up and about by 7. If I am not feeling well and I have the time, I would usually sleep until 9am. I tried to sleep past that but my body is just not into sleeping some more past 9am. I don't find it hard to wake up very early, but I should be awake by at least 9:30 the previous night or 10 if ever I need to be up really early.

I don't get to sleep in no matter how much I wanted to. When my husband and daughter are awake, I have to be up too, even if I slept for less than 8 hours. I tried sleeping in the afternoon but fail most of the time because my daughter is awake and so giggly that I have to pay attention to her. I guess that's part of being a mom and a wife :)

When we have kids, we usually end up having to get up early for them. I have raised my daughter on my own, and of course I had to be up early everyday. Thank god for weekends, I can sleep in till whenever I want. But since I am used to getting up early, I have not been able to sleep any later than 9am.

I like to pretend to like that I sleep in, but lately I can't sleep in past 7 or 8 on the weekends. After that I just sit in my comfortable bed for a while. During the week I get up at 5:50 so now my ability to sleep late into the 10-11 AM hours is completely gone. I do enjoy to sit in my bed in the morning though, there is something so peaceful about it.
