A meeting got canceled in the last minute. Hooray! I am free to do my own work and not sit in some meeting room. Reminds me of my school days when a teacher was absent from class. Have you had this experience? Maybe I was a bad student, but I was extremely happy when my teacher could not make it to class.

I am supposed to have a meeting this morning but it was also cancelled because the other party could not make it saying that something urgent came up. I was not particularly too happy about it because we still had to reschedule the meeting and I was hoping I got this over with today. Now I have to worry about it for another week.

The feeling is different as you're the one who initiate the meeting. When you are just an attendee, some meetings can be a total waste of time. In this scenario you are the teacher who couldn't make it to class.

Oh, I could have made it to class, but I'd be teaching an empty classroom...

Ya, i can imagine that you happy if meeting got canceled. Since after meeting there are many things need be done, to follow up the meeting it self. Minutes of meeting that consist what, who and when often makes me headaches as me or my dept always listed there and have task more than other, with tight deadline as well. Lol. So for me, meeting = there will be many many work waiting to be done.

Can't agree more. Usually we end up with more work after a meeting. Unlike those business meetings where deals are closed. Those means money coming in.

I know what you mean about the feeling of when a Teacher couldnt make it in.It always felt like a break eventhough we still had the lesson with a substitute teacher. This was because the substitute would always be less strict and give us easier work to do.I still feel like that now I am at University and a particularly difficult/boring lecture gets called off.But most of my lectures I prefer are on rather than off as I find them very interesting. And the only reason I like having a different lecturer is because I find it interesting to hear their different perspectives on the topics as they all have differing expertise and differing lecture styles.I find it interesting to try and learn in different ways. And I realise that to get a good degree and do well for my self I need to be going to as many lectures as I can.

I like that feeling. I used to celebrate, too, when one of my teachers weren't able to make it to class. That meant just playing with classmates in the classroom, and other stuff. It's the same thing when I was with my previous company. Sometimes my boss would cancel a meeting because of some other important stuff that he had to attend to. This always lead to me and some office mates drinking out, and having fun. To put it simply, it's pretty much the same.

During college, we have a checker or someone who do the rounds to see if classes or cancelled or if a certain professor did not come to class. Sometimes, our professors would be sick that they will not leave some word to their assistant that they are not coming to class. So when a professor wasn't there on time, we are to wait until the checker comes by before we can go out the classroom. One day, we have this awful professor in a certain Law subject. The checker comes in and everyone just whooped and clap their hands while filing out the classroom.

This is funny. It shows how unpopular the professor is.

I love the feeling of a canceled meeting, I get to have time to do all the stuff I want to. Meeting usually take a lot of time and are quite boring. Cant stand them for anything in this world.

Once a bad student for ever you will be.lol. I was also like this. We had a so called 20-minute grace period. Even if the teacher arrives after 20 minutes then students were free to go. I hated it when the professor arrived just right before the 20th minute ticks. When there is a storm then my city would have floods but my university was on a tri semester system so as much as possible classes went on. One professor told us that, there is a helicopter pad on the rooftop. In other words, there is always a way to be able to arrive in class no matter how harsh the weather is. But of course, if it is really bad then I already decide if I am going or not. I felt so guilty though at times, after wishing that the storm goes stronger, then I would see all the damages it did on the television.:)

Hi, Wow! You are so happy. your discussion reminds me my school days also. I also become happy when there was off period.,teacher was not coming to teach us. I think every student has same feeling when the teacher is absent and there is no class. I was also not bad student. But everyone wants some change in our life. Such unexpectated changes make us happy.

I was a good student but after that also I was so happy if teacher was absent one day because I would like to go home and see my kind mother and spend some time with her.
