I was up late one night watching t.v. and i saw some old shows on from when i was a kid and i thought i start a discussion about it. I grew up the 70's and 80's and loved the shows from that time such as Good Times The Jeffersons What's Happening Love Boat Fantasy Island Dukes Of Hazzard Full House Family Matters Family Ties Barney Miller and so many others. The only reason i watched Dallas or Dynasty was because my sister and grandmother did so when i was with them i'd watch and i only liked Dallas somewhat. Oh i also like Three's Company and The Brady Bunch. There were way more shows out there then for kids to watch then there is today. Some of my favorite shows were Dukes of Hazzard Love Boat Fantasy Island(the plane the plane). What shows do you remember as a kid and what were some of your favorites? What era did you grow up in? Oh some other shows i forgot are Starsky and Hutch Bosom Buddies where Tom Hanks got his start in acting ( i loved that show). I alsoliked and remember watching Happy Days Laverne and Shirley Alice and Mork and Mindy(where Robin Williams got his start in acting). Two of my other favorite shows were Little House on the Prairie and 8 is Enough. I also like the actor Randolph Mantooth from the show Emergency. ok enough about what i liked what did you like from the era you grew up in and what area did you grow up?

Looks like we came from the same era. I love watching all those comedy programs and several others like Murder She Write, McGayver, Night Rider and of course all those cartoons. Whenever I see reruns of these shows, I surely love watching them all over again. It brings back a lot of memories.

Some of the earliest I remember were My Favorite Martian, Patty Duke, Courtship of Eddy's Father, I Dream of jeannie, Bewitched, That Girl, in other words 60's shows. But I remember most of the ones you do. Emergency was my mother's favorite show at the time. I remember seeing Randolph Mantooth on a soap opera while I was at my Doctor's office, and this woman kept insisting it was the guy from Adam 12. Nope...

I have to admit that Netflix has been one of the best things ever for me because of the fact that I am able to find some of the shows that I used to watch when I was a child. However there are a lot of shows that I miss that are not available on Netflix. I grew up in the 80s and 90s. Some of the shows that I remember with the most fondness are Full House, Family Matters, Beverly Hills 90210 (the original one), Dawson's Creek, Doogie Howser, M.D., ER. . .

I loved E.R. and Doogie Howser. Am now a huge fan of Neil Patrick Harris in the movies and How I Met Your Mother.

Even though I was born in the late 70s I still watch the classic television shows because they are better than some of the shows that are on today. I love watching MASH, I Love Lucy, The Brady Bunch, Happy Days, and Little House on the Prairie. The only recent shows I watch are Hot in Cleveland, The Price Is Right, and Let's Make a Deal. I also love to watch old game shows as well. I wish there were more television shows that are more family oriented.

I grew up in the 80s and 90s. It is interesting that you made this discussion. I find myself up more at night. There are a lot more of the older shows on at that time but there is a couple of channels that show reruns of some good shows at any time period. I love shows like I love Lucy, 7th Heaven, Touched by an Angel, and several of the shows you mentioned are shows that I enjoy. There are lots of older shows that I enjoy. It seems to me that sometimes I like to watch reruns of shows more than watching the newer shows that are on today.

I am 30 years old and love Maude! I had never seen it before. Then we only had antenne tv for a few years and I got hooked. She was an awesome, strong woman. There should be more tough lady role models in todays shows. I know there are plenty of kick booty type shows today but they usually have a love interest that takes care of her too. Maude could kick booty if she had to but with Maude she could really speak her mind.

I kinda miss alot of those old shows. I like most of the ones you liked especially Laverne & Shirley, Three's Company, Love Boat and Fantasy Island. I remember thinking that when I grew up I wanted to visit Fantasy Island lol. The comedies back then were much funnier to me than they are now. Most of the ones now just aren't that funny and don't appeal to me at all. I wish there was a tv station that aired alot of those old shows. Every now and then I can find The Jeffersons or 227 on a station called Centric and TV Land airs Mash but that's about it.
