As most of us do, I have been watching labels when shopping.
My daughters favorite yogurt is not longer on our 'must get' list. After reading the label it contains aspartame. I'm kind of disappointed that this brand would have that as an ingredient to be honest. Considering it wants to promote women's healthier lifestyles. Specially when their commercials are aimed at weight loss and aspartame is linked to weight gain. One kind of cancels out the other there.
I'm pretty discouraged by this company now and know will not be buying this product anymore. I'll be honest it's a big let down in Yoplait!

The more I'm reading labels the more I tend to think so....lol it's just a way of changing buying habits and that's been hard.

Would be interesting to watch that, but then again, what would be left? We're just trying to modify our buying habits. No processed meats, no junk stuff, etc. Been cooking/baking more from scratch lately. I forgot how much time it consumed but it's better for us in the long run.

I only recently started eating some yogurt as a way to add some protein to breakfast a couple of days a week. It is so hard to tell how bad aspartame is since there have been many studies and most of them have concluded that it is not so bad. I have tried three brands of yogurt: Yoplait, Dannon and a store brand. My favorite as far as taste goes is Yoplait peach; actually peach is about the only one I like. I tried the Yoplait cherry and didn't like it much and also was upset by the name, label and ingredients list. All of them just said it was cherry but it was actually black cherry which I don't like so well. I called them about it and they admitted it was black cherry but that they had used the cherry alone name and picture on the label of regular cherry because people would buy more that way. The Dannon peach is a close second; it also has aspartame in it. The store brand was not as good; I don't know if it had aspartame or not.

A friend's mom told me about it and checked it out. I know the ringing in my ears is hereditary, but it's not as bad now that have blocked all aspartame. I do miss my diet mt dew though....oh well.
That's odd because when was buying that brand they had a cherry and then a black cherry too. I'm hoping to find something that is free of this additive but seems like coming up empty.

the thing is... some of the "studies" are run by the actual companies, so they cant all be trusted.

Unfortunately, many items now have aspartane in them, and these companies never stop and think before putting something in their foods. I have heard a lot of warnings over time about this product, and would think companies would quit wanting to use it. It must be cheaper, but in reality shouldn't it always be about a persons health?

I think is should be if they are going to have the image of promoting
"healthy" lifestyle. Very disappointed in Yoplait in this.

I know what You mean! Im looking at everything I buy too and I try not have my kids with me but sometimes...I cave in. Like once a month I let them have a treat. I would try complaining to the company. Im sure if so many ppl complain something will happen.

I know what you mean by it's so much easier to shop alone....I tend to spend less
I don't think a treat every once and a while is bad. I don't keep ice cream at home because it's a treat to go to the store and pick up some if we've had an outting and everyone was on their best behavior.

You have to really read the labels, because about 95% of the yogurts are made with aspertame but not advetised with it. I get headaches, and stomachaches if I eat or drink aspertame. Once I got a yogurt and felt so ill, I ate the yogurt just before, looked at the label and it had it in.

My friend's mom directed me to an alert about aspartame and the more I read the more concerned I am about it. There is even people contacting the FDA about aspartame poisoning.

yeah i think most of the big yogurt brands are bad news. basically if a cup of yogurt is less than 100 calories theres something wrong! and they always say "low fat!" "good for weight loss" but all of those chemicals they use to make it low fat actually are bad for your health AND weight loss.
