praying for my big girl

My girls have had a virus of some sort (fever & body ache)the younger and then the oldest. Well despite dealing with the virus one after another with them; the oldest may have a bigger issue. The past 2 nights she's woken up in pain at her bottom. We've done all the home remidy for ich/pain we could think of. Took her to the Dr today and there's no sign of infection or UTI. However the Dr thought perhaps it could be pinworm as it only bothers her at night. My mouth dropped when she told me what I have to do to detect it on her. In this instance I can say I hate the web.... too much information makes things sometimes harder to deal with KWIM? So I'm laying here praying that she doesn't awaken upset and in tears yet again. The more I read about it the more I'm freaked out for her and the family. I'm running on next to no sleep as it is worried about her. Please think of her

Well you have to sanitize everything the best you can like with Lice and a dose of pinworm med (all of us actually to be safe) and in 2 weeks a second dose. I'm just saying this is alot more work than I was hoping for.

Yep I had to look at her bum at night w/a flash light trying to spot them and or take a sample with a sticky taped collection paddle and test tube. It was a jaw dropper as I thought she'd just need an antibiotic or something kwim!?!?

So what sort of treatment does she need?

I will be praying for her, too. Even if it's pinworms, remember God is the Great Physician.

I'm sorry. One of my friends had pinworms long ago, so I have an idea of what a pain it is to deal with. It will soon be over, though... just look forward to that.

Unfortunatly it was confirmed. This has been one heck of a week for things to go wrong health wise as it is for everyone.

The remidy is simple but the laundry is not and the length the microsopic eggs are viable is not so simpel to me anyway.

Pin worms aren't that easy I'm afraid, they a parasite in your digestive tract. TY for the prayers that she doesn't not have it. Take care of yourself too Ms Hatley!

it was so odd last night as I am fighting the flu and =I ate this enormous serving of vegetable soup then when U went t eat my mac and cheese which I really love I could only eat a few spoonfuls and I had taken my diabetes medication to.So when I started typing a comment to you I really all of a sudden went low so I had to stop and eat a snack right away. I guess I should have tried to eat more pf the mac and cheese at dinner time.

The flu is no fun either. I like mac'n cheese provided I can make a variation of things but the kids can be picky that way.

It's a parasitic worm that lives in your intestines. It causes pain when it comes out of your #2 hole to lay eggs at night. You can get it from not washing your hands before you eat, after using the rest room, inhaled, or touching any surface that someone with the microscopic eggs on their fingers may of touched. http://www.cdc.gov/parasites/pinworm/ It's a new one to me as well!

Yes OTC remidy. However, you have to clean your house and keep things just so like you have to when your kids aquire lice... you know like wash bedding, toys, every possible surface since the eggs are microsopic ect.

My thoughts and prayers are with you your family and your daughter and hope this finds her feeling better. It is not good when people are sick especially with all the information that is out there that can make you wonder even worse. Just continue to remember god is in control and things do get better.

I think she's doing better physically. It's the sanitizing, the worry of her opening her mouth at school (and being picked on), and just not being contagious anymore that's on my mind for the moment

Uh, yeah, I know what you have to do. My mom told me the story of my sister having it. She took my sister to the doctor when she was a baby, and the doctor told her where to look at night. She looked, she saw, she grossed out. So I feel for her.

Yeah I grossed out just being explained what I needed to do! I was hoping for an antibiotic easy fix, well the fix is kinda easy but the extra washing and sanitizing like when you have lice is a total PITA! Sadly my daughter said she could deal with the creepy wormies vs taking the med which didn't even taste like much of anything, better flavor than pepto! And of course made sure she had a bird over the med whereas the other two were like whatever.

Worms are fairly common in humans, particularly in children. It's easy to get rid of most of them and teaching good hygene helps prevent them. Living on a ranch we are aware of this health threat. We use dyotomatous earth in our food, just a tiny bit each day and it keeps us worm free, even after dealing with chickens. The Llamas get this in their food also. You can buy this treatment over the Internet. We tend to forget that to the insect world we are animals and thus a food source for them.

The Dr couldn't tell me if she orginated this or not since it's contagious. I agree you would know how to treat much of this working on a ranch you know to watch and prevent such pests with your animals.

I hope you find some answers. Pinworms are very common, it's a hand to mouth if remember right, so washing your hands often should prevent spread of it to other family members - especially after they use the bathroom. It can be alarming but they really are common, more common then people think.

I had not heard of this until my child was diagnosed with it.

We lived on a farm so it was common to find this in young children in the area. why we were always told to wash our hands before we ate. It's in the dirt outside that we carry it in with us.
