I don't believe in him in a religious sense, as I'm not religious. But I do think having a good pope is important, and so far he seems humble and the right kind of person for this job... at least for me.

Respect is the best for the newly elected Pope and let's pray for him to be more courageous in facing problems of the people

What is to believe rather than to know? I know that he is a human and has been elected by the Cardinals to be the new Pope. I know that he took the name 'Francis' after Francis of Assissi and that one of his stated aims is to see a "poor Church ministering to the poor." How, exactly, he will translate that aim into a reality (and whether he will be able to do so) is something that nobody (and probably he himself) cannot tell. Can you really see the Catholic Church selling all of its vast wealth (which includes a great deal of valuable altarware and priceless art works) and giving the money to the poor? I wish him every success, of course, since the Catholic Church cannot truly call itself "Christian" if it does not follow one of the central principles that Jesus taught. Quite how Pope Francis will contrive to pass the 'camel', which the organisation of Roman Catholicism has become over the centuries, though the 'eye of the needle' which is the basic teachings of Christ, I cannot see!
