I am incredibly excited for my girl to get a haircut, wooo she is stinky! and very overgrown. They never cut her tail hair and its ridiculously long, I will ask them to trim it nicely because it actually gets stepped on when shes at the park sometimes that is when she puts her tail down.
Though it is a little sad for them to cut it it has her puppy hair that is all black at the end with age (1yr 3mos) she has grown more silver.
She looks like she has muppet paws they are so overgrown! anyway I am probably the most excited and will feel even better than she does because I wont have a tiny smelly roommate anymore! Cuddling is on the agenda for tomorrow, as well as grabbing some more of her dog food.
Oh and my mom wants to get her a cheeseburger after the haircut. Milo, our family dog always gets a McDouble (he is in good shape/health) but I am worried about feeding this to my dog. I take good care in choosing a healthy food for her and I just love her so much I want her to live as long as possible!! But, what kind of life is it to not eat a treat. I propose we 3 split it or get something else... Maybe I will look at what they have at the pet store for special treats when I get the dog food!

Special pet treats would probably be better than McDonald's anything. He will be all trimmed up and I bet there won't be so much lose hair. And remember its probably not a special time for him but for you only.

Ya, it's necessary but they don't understand. Glad she got a good treat.

Haircut is the most boring thing for me. I try to avoid this and that is why 6 months i grow it and then cut it to a size of half inch. I even feel breathless at the time of haircut. Let it be animal or human being, hair is the extra burden always.

Yes, I feel bad causing her anxiety when she goes in. But now she is quite pleased she had a lot of heavy mattes on her body it feels a lot better afterwards I know it does for me. I also leave my haircuts for a long time, mostly because of the social aspect sitting in a chair having to talk and being touched.

What breed is your dog? Some of them need constant trimming of their furs to keep them clean and hygenic. As for the McDonalds treat, I strongly suggest that stop feeding her that, even thou it is a once a while affair. Like you said, should you want to treat her, then you can get those treats from the pet shop. But to be frank, dogs are easily satisfied. During them out for a long walk on a different route or bring them for a swim and they will be very happy.

she is a havanese-maltese-poodle cross. so they just grow and grow their hair! and its easy to get matted, I didnt take her in for a while during winter and when she got spayed but now i will take her more often especially since i have a job. I decided to get her a natural chicken jerky at the pet store, much healthier and ooh she loved it!! probably lasted her longer too.

I don't know how's the weather there, but here the temperatures have dropped again and I am glad my wife haven't trimmed our dog yet. It's quite cold outside, and we're in March already!
From what I remember dogs feel embarrassed if people laugh at them when they appear with the new haircut. Don't hurt her feelings. Even if she looks funny with the new haircut, don't make fun of her. Tell her she's beautiful and play with her for a while to forget what she has been through. You can bring her favorite toy there to make her feel comfortable with her new haircut.
Don't forget to come with some "before and after" pictures of your girl!

I hope he enjoys his grooming appointment, my grandmother takes her dog every month to get a hair cut, or else he looks like a mop head.
Feeding dogs human food especially unhealthy human food is not a good idea. The burger could be fine, but nothing else.

hi monkmano At first I was getting really worried when you said your girl had stinky hair as I thought whoa no way to talk about a girl.I was thinking also I had never seen a girl whose hair reached the ground then I reread your discussion and realized you were describing your dog. I am not sure how good it is to feed your dog a Mcdonalds burger all the time but maybe just occasionally is okay .
