Normally I don't use a bookmark when I am reading. I just fold the page. However, since lately I often borrow books from the library. So now I will use a bookmark instead. Because the books from the library are very new and I hope to keep it new so that many people will read it in a good mood. I cherish the books borrowed from the library as well as mine.

Not at all. when I'm reading, the book mark is not in use. when I'm done reading, it gets put in the book, and is used. :)

The only time I ever fold a page over to mark my place is when I am ordering something from a catalogue I received in the mail. As soon as I receive the item, I will check to make suse that it is what I ordered and throw the catalogue away. I never even turn down the corner of a page in a book. I prize books, even those I don't like. If I don't want to read them again, I will give them to a friend, the library, or a thrift shop.

I don't mind putting a crease in a catalogue page because I'm going to throw it all away shortly.

Hi youless, it's very convenient to continue reading if placing a bookmark at the page where we have stopped reading previously straight away I can use whatever paper in front as bookmark if I have to stop reading in a hurry, like someone calling me at the gate, or receiving phone call, etc. I like using blank paper as bookmark for I can jot down words or sentences that I need to refer later. I jolt down difficult words also and write down the meaning of them from dict. This is easy for me to not to search them from dict again. It's hard for me to remember all the difficult words after referring to dict Yeah, it's not a good habit to fold the particular page as bookmark, even if it's only a small corner. No matter how we should cherish book no matter it's from library or friend or our own property. Happy posting

There is cute and practical type of bookmark I found when hanging the bookstore. It's a clip with beautiful head of cartoon characters. It resemble the look of hair pain. The difference is hair pain is fixed on a pain instead of a clip. I have two such adorable female manga character portrait heads. It won't fall and would stick to the page firmly as it clips the page tightly

Perhaps I shall give up my idea to buy a nice bookmark via the net but use a piece of paper as a bookmark instead.

I use bookmarks all the time. I'm not a vast reader so I tend to read a book over many months(or years). I prefer using a bookmark over folding the page. I like my books to be free of creases. If I run out of bookmarks, I just use a receipt or any other sheet of paper.

Thank you. Just like ayeeesha, the person who commented after me, I'm "OC" too when it comes to books. OC means obsessive-compulsive. If someone is OC about stuff, it means s/he's very concerned about neatness. I would be very uneasy if I accidentally marked a dot on a page with a pen, or there's a small fold on the corner.

Hello! Yep--I still find myself using bookmarks as does my daughter. Just out of curiosity, what are you reading now? I've always had a strong appreciation for history so I'm reading the Black Count. Just started it this week.

Hi! I did see that there was a baking contest in the latest issue of Taste of Home; $500. You can use published recipes but change a few ingredients so it would really be yours or use a family unpublished recipe. There's also a bake sale for NoKidHungry.org.

Yes, I do. I'm a bit OC when it comes to books and I always make sure there are no folds or spills. Plus, there are a lot of cute bookmarks available in the market, I can't help but buy them :)

I am glad you use bookmarks, cause it is sad to see the tops of pages turned so as to mark them for somebody. There are many nice bookmarks around, so there is no excuse not to use them really!

If only all people felt the way you do about books borrowed from the library. I always use a bookmark because I hate folding the corner of a book, whether it my own or the libraries. I feel once you do that you are ruining the book. I love books so much. That is like the best gift anyone could give me. Sometimes I use a regular bookmark or if I don't have one readily available to me I will put a envelope or piece of paper and I have even used a napkin. Anything instead of folding the corner.

I always use a bookmark to hold my place. Most of my books were given to me by someone else and then I give them to someone else. Sometimes the people I have gotten them from have turned the page in, and I would get confused if I did it too. Besides, the people I give them to when I am done would probably get confused also.

Hello youless, I had a habit of keeping a bookmark while reading library books during school college days. I made some bookmarks at home and also gifted my friends. Now I don't use bookmarks and not even fold the page. I try to remember the page last read.

No,I don't.Instead,I like to remember the page number up to which I have read the book. However generally I don't need it,because if the book I am reading is interesting,I like to finish it at one sitting, especially if I have time.Since I am very busy in the daytime,I prefer to read books at night and then once I begin reading,I don't leave the book until it is finished.

Very good thing to do it youless! I always prefer using a bookmark! I have A good collection of decorative bookmarks. It not only keeps the book new but also add some spice in reading! I often buy bookmarks from Handcraft fairs, which looks very good in my bookshelf! 'WE LOVE BOOKS AND BOOKS LOVE BOOKMARKS'!

I use a bookmark, since I don't like to mar the pages of my books. I have a whole stack of bookmarks because I tend to read more than one book at a time.

Sometime it can be a long while before I get back to a book, and most of the time I am unable to remember exactly where I was. Now, I try to make more of an effort to remember my place, since my son is fond of pulling out the bookmarks.

most of the time I do use a book mark. my neighbor borrows my books and I borrow hers and I do rent from the library sometimes and it is easier to use a bookmark than try to remember whos book it is and if I should bend th corner down or not. I use to all the time when I was growing up tho. this is something I grew to likeing more than that. I will say that my kids do mess up where I am in a book sometimes but I can usually find my place ok :) I love reading and I always have since I was a kid :)

I use bookmarks. I hate to dog-ear the pages of my books. If I don't have a bookmark handy, I can just use an old receipt, a piece of paper, or an old envelope of my billings.

I always use bookmarks. My school teacher taught me to make them. Sometimes i get thebookmarks in book itself. I never fold the pages as i want my book to be neat and clean. I use to scold my sister. She had the habit of folding the pages after reading. Lol.. But now she also like using bookmarks
