I have always disliked having onion right from my childhood days so much so that its very smell gives me a dizzy feeling. This has also put me into troubles at times when i have ordered some food and they have too much of onion in it. My parents sometimes get worried about me since onion in India is one of the main ingredient in almost all the food items and hence it wont be easy for me to be choosy in that case.
Whenever onion is put in as an onion paste, i have no issues but i can never have it the original form, may be due to its smell and the crunchy sound that it generates while having it has developed a different feeling towards it due to which i am not having it since my childhood days. In fact at times whenever i order food and ask othrs not to add onion in it then they laugh at me because if added it enhances the taste but still i am OK even it mars its taste.
What are your thoughts regarding this guys? Do u hate any particular item, fruit or vegetable? Please do share your experiences!

Dang! Now how am I supposed to invite you for a Mexican Food Party? I also love Mexican food. I have nnot had any Indian food except for cooking Chicken curry. But my mom and dad said that your dishes taste good. They were not expecting to like them coz of all the spices.

Ha ha ha, oh god does that mean i would be missing out the Mexican Food Party just for these onions? Ha ha ha.
Well i have never tasted any Mexican food and if they use too much of onions then it would be again a disadvantage for me huh! Besides Indian dishes r very tasty because of the use of spices and many of ingredients. If spices r not used then no dish would taste better. Even some dishes without spices tastes better in India.

I love onion. I like it when there is plenty on it on the pizza, on my viand, soya sauce - love it. I hate it when they are cooked so dark, I prefer them cook light and medium. Although people say it makes you body release a strange smell, but so far and until now I don't smell strange lol. But it does good to my skin. And its healthy. I hate garlic. eehh!

Fortunately, onion and garlic have more or less the same properties. Of course, they're not identical but they are pretty similar when it comes to health, they both boost your immune system for example. So I think that by not eating garlic you're not missing out on too much. Plus garlic is much stronger than onion so I can understand why you might not like it ;)

@hunibani-
Ha ha ha, i know for some it is very much tempting to have onions sprinkled over some food items and then they attack on it. i have seen pizzas having loads of onions over it and so i have never tasted pizzas. As u have mentioned, it does generate some strange smell from your mouth when u have it which is again a turn off for me while interacting with someone.

Yes u are absolutely right, both garlic n onion r very much required for our body as they have many medicinal values. I have heard that garlic has more stronger properties than onion and due to this reason both r used extensively in the Indian dishes. Though i do not eat onions, i can accept having garlic in my food item.

Oh that's great to hear that both garlic and onion r your weakness and as we all know that without using both, most of the Indian dishes cannot be prepared so it is pretty obvious for u to feel uncomfortable to cook without using them. Even my mother keeps saying me that how she can cook without using onions as i do not eat onions so what she does is grinds the onions so that i can have them easily. ha ha.

I have no problem with onions. It is not only delicious but also healthy. However, my son doesn't like it. My son is a picky eater. He has some food that he doesn't like or even try to eat. So sometimes I just put the onions to mixer with other ingredients and then make a soup. He will not tell it from the soup and i am glad to it. It needs some methods to let him eat some food. As to me, I just don't like eating the bitter food. Besides it, I am not so picky to the food.

Well i am glad to know that u r not picky like me and high five to your son also! ha ha ha.
Honestly as u have mentioned it is a very good method of not telling anyone whether onions have been used or not whenever they r mixed or grinded. Even my mom does it so that i can have it properly. Bitter food r not tasty but r required for our health especially for our body cells.

For me it's coffee. Sometimes I get even nauseous when I feel the smell of it. Ehen my parents and my friends are having it, I try to move as far as possible from the coffee or not to smell it that strongly.
I actually like onions now, but I didn't really like them as a kid.

Oh really coffee it is? i think u r doing the best by trying to avoid going nearby it otherwise u will feel nauseous again. In my case, i do not run away from onions nor do i get nauseous upon seeing them, i just simply do not like having them.
I am hearing for the first time that someone is running away from coffee. may i know the reason why u hate coffee so much?

I am also not a big fan of onions, but I can tolerate it in my food in small quantities. Too much of it will definitely ruin it all for me. I don't even like onion rings. Also, I do not beans of any kind. They just have this weird consistency in my tongue, plus they always give me stomachaches and, well we all know where that leads to.

oh really, then u somehow fall into my category but then u can manage the food items even if there r few onions in them. but honestly i do not like onions in any shape or sizes, i do not approve the weird smell coming out from one's mouth after eating the onions which is so awkward especially when u r interacting with them. I like beans to some extent but not if they r used in plenty amount.
