i had been to Andaman with my parents recently and as we all know that Andaman is famous for Cellular Jail where all the Indian freedom fighters were kept for years by the Britishers and was not famous for the Indian freedom fighters being there but for the way they were treated like animals and were punished like anything.
when i took a round about the jail, i was shocked to see so many things. each compartment of the jail was so small that i almost got suffocated when i got into it to take a snap, so imagine how the prisoners would have been living then. Our guide said that the prisoners were forced to work under hot sun and used to get beatings with rod if they were not able to complete the work on time. they were given stale food and were allowed to go to toilet only once. The hanging of the prisoners were done in front of everyone so that Britishers could create a terror among everyone. i cannot believe that our freedom fighters have done so much for us due to which we r able to move and breathe freely today. I felt proud that they have sacrificed their lives for their country and did not accept defeat in front of anyone.
What r your thoughts regarding this? Have u ever seen a jail and its inmates? Please do share your experiences!

I once saw a jail as well. On a visit to a friend in las vegas usa. I hated it. People were yelling. Id never go back again, not even for a visit.

Ha ha ha, yeah i can understand the situation u might have gone through after seeing the activities of the jail inmates, i think such people have become so frustrated with their lives that they do not do anything but yell and scream at the people they see. Although the jail i am talking about had no inmates but seriously the ambience inside the jail is never good.

Oh yeah ,who would not have been frightened with the very sight of those prisoners behaving like anything, at least u came back with courage, had i been in your place, i would have yelled and fainted at that moment. ha ha ha.
i have seen on TV how the prisoners always have so many negative thoughts in their mind because they r surrounded by negativity around them. really scary it is!

yes even i had seen jails and its negative environment in the movies but never thought that i could actually see it in person also. But whatever may be the case, i thoroughly enjoyed the environment but what i felt bad was the way our freedom fighters were being treated in those jails. It was very miserable to see that.

First of all I must thank you for posting this, We are living peacefully in our country today is because of such freedom fighters only. We must respect our freedom fighters as god. I never visited any jail so far. Anyhow this discussion gave me feeling as I visited Andaman Jail. :)

Oh yeah, well i think we should be thankful to our freedom fighters who fought away for us and in the process sacrificed their lives as well. they r the real people who deserve much more and cannot be sufficed through words only.
But anyways i am glad to hear that u have also been to Cellular Jail, in fact each one of us should go there and have a feel of the conditions that our freedom fighters have gone through. when did u go there?

Being prisoned is the worst thing it not only spoil the certain period of life but also spoil the whole life of an individual by that one worst experience. In my views it should be even worst than this the punishments should be equally worst like the crime conducted by the individual only then they could feel fear of conducting any crime.

Yes absolutely right u are, being imprisoned is the worst thing that can happen to anyone as it not only spoils one's life but also puts a question mark on his or her identity forever that is hard to remove. As u have mentioned even i agree that punishment should be given according to the crimes done by the criminals this will help in stabilizing the amount of crimes happening in our society nowadays.
