John Bought Me Some Flowers

Flowers Bought As A Peace Offering - 'Sorry for the late nights' said John

In the photograph attached to this discussion are some flowers John brought home for me (I reckon he must've gone in Sainsbury's next door to his workplace before setting off home) as he knows it's been a tough week with him working late most nights. He also knows it's frustrating for me thinking he's going to turn up at a certain time only for him to ring and tell me otherwise! So the flowers are his peace offering..and very nice they are too. I was still living at Mum's the last bouquet he bought for me, so it's a rare event, which I suppose, makes it more special. Awww!

hi, haney1966. you're lucky to have a sweet man at your side. sometimes we do get hurt when we prepare something special for dinner only to be disappointed later when the phone rings with the "i'll be home late tonight" news. you're not alone, wives all over the world complain about this. treasure your flowers and the man who got them for you. have a nice evening.

Awww, thanks very much. I try to put myself in John's shoes at times. It can't be easy for him as the place he works at is so hectic..it's difficult to judge when he'll be able to come out!

And lovely they are too. I often think how awful life at work is for John when I read your posts. It must be special for him to come home late and find his comfy home and lovely wife waiting for him. It shows just how much he appreciates you. One of my exes bought me home flowers one night out of the blue and I was thrilled. He bought some home again the following week and it wasn't the same but I still showed my appreciation. He bought home artificial flowers next week explaining that the garage had sold out of real ones. I wanted to laugh but couldn't so I had to carefully explain that if it became a regular thing it was no longer special. He never bought me flowers again. Turns out he was cheating on me anyway.

Actually, I still have them. They look like a bunch of pretty wild flowers and the dust washes off easily. They go very well in a horribly ugly vase my daughter made in school and expects to find in use whenever she comes to visit...she will be 43 in a month...lol.

Well, this is it, if they're only bought occasionally (in John's case, every 10 years) they definitely mean more my friend. Shame about your ex cheating on you like that..cheapskate anyway buying you plastic ones lol.

How thoughtful of him, not many men would have done that, and you deserve them too my friend. Doesn't matter where he got them, it's the thought that counts! Definitely deserves a double awwww...

He's been lovely today as well, ferrying me back and forth to the hospital. I only hope he has a good day at work when he's back tomorrow. Do you know, he received a TEXT message going on about a new catalogue coming in from H&H, and we were out shopping in Morrisons on Saturday at the time. Damn cheek! He's mentioned it to one of the main bosses who will talk to H&H's Chief Executive today. Why he can't just bollock the person who sent the message in the first place, I don't know!

That was quite nice of him. My boyfriend should do that, considering how cranky he was this morning. However, I don't think that he will be surprising me with any flowers when he returns. However, he shall earn his way back into my good graces by helping to clean; this place needs to be cleaned up by Monday.

It was a nice surprise, I must admit. He knows it's annoying when he has to work late and I'm the last to know. In fact, he doesn't always know until the last minute either! How come your place needs to be cleaned by Monday. Good luck with that.

The flowers are beautiful. I think it was so nice of your husband to bring flowers to you. Knowing the hectic week it has been for the both of you. Most men wouldn't even think of doing such a nice jester as this. Its good that you put yourself in his shoes and realize its his job and that is the way it is. If he could get out on time everyday you know he would be there at home with you. Enjoy the flowers.

Many thanks. I know I can be cranky when he's late but, without him, we wouldn't have a roof over our head. I have to make that my priority thought. I just don't want him being taken advantage of at work as he can never say 'no' lol. I will enjoy the flowers. That's why I took a photo of them..a permanent reminder.

That's wonderful. It would be nice to show your appreciation by your reaction or something nice that you can do for him.

I went to see his Mum and Dad with him. I've not seen his Mum for a few months due to a fall-out we had - so I went with John to see them today. Did it for his benefit, not mine of course.

That's very thoughtful of John to bring home flowers. I've only gotten flowers once, and it was from a guy trying to sponge off someone...

It was thoughtful, I agree. Still not ready for the MIL though..but that will all change on Sunday when I go to her house. They've been hovering round here and John rang me about it and I said the usual Aries thing..'"No!" so they've given John my birthday present and sauntered off again. I just don't want the MIL in this house...and why now?

I have been married for 19 years. And the last time my husband gave me flowers was on our 5th Wedding Anniversary! (SOURGRAPING: "I am really not fond of flowers, anyway!)

That was really nice. I am not a flower girl at all. I would much rather have chocolate, a snuggle, or dinner and a movie.

Awww, that is so sweet! My husband never buys me flowers even if there's an occasion. He thinks I would like a more practical and useable gift. Which I am okay, of course. But a girl will always be a girl and I will always like flowers. But I don't think I can ever force him. He's a generous one, so I don't think he's about the budget thing. But still....

How sweet. You must be lucky. My boyfriend not used to give me flowers. I don't know.He was just fond of treating me in a lunch date or some food that I want. I guess he was just practical but I also said to him that when he will give me flowers, I would love to accept it and feel as if my hair is so long. lol.

They've brightened up the kitchen too. Funnily enough, I was only thinking the other day that I've got two vases and never use them..I never said anything to John though. Perhaps he read my mind? Anyway, I'm going to enjoy them for as long as possible. Such a lovely gesture from a very nice man.

awww. so sweet of him. I am pretty sure that you are still smiling when you look at those flowers. I hope I can find someone that will also give me flowers when I'm mad or sad just to make me happy.
