Capital one Surprised me

I have heard from many people that Capital one sucks and never gives back security funds. I've had my secured credit card since 2009 and i had placed my security deposit on the card at that time. from things i had heard i NEVER expected to get the funds back.
Yesterday i tried to log on to my estatement only to receive an error message saying my account was locked. I got worried and called in after i was done work - thinking i was going to get told it was compromised and i had to worry about identity theft.
I got quite the surprise when the lady on the other end of the line told me that my card was no longer a secured card and i had been upgraded to gold for responsibly paying my minimum payments. She said that i would be getting a new card along with my security funds returned to be by mail in the next few weeks.
What a shock to me! Great news but what a shock since i had heard about people having to fight to get it back.
What experiences do you have with Credit card companies?

With most credit card companies, not a pleasant one experience, some try to con me into sign up their useless program with a monthly fee, like Bank of America, they automatically sign me with the credit insurance, which I heard it is a junk, and I called to cancel it with a fight, and the call representative reluctantly to cancel that from my call. Other credit card companies offer some balance transfer checks, but with high transfer fee. Under any unnecessary circumstance, do not fall for it.

Yes you are right. My friend also tackle some problematic situation from bank side also and he didn't back his money. Somebody has taken away her money because of same credit card PIN number. She has complained but all in vain.

Well I'm happy for you because Capital One is one of the companies that I'm still dealing with. They have had a lot of bad press over their marketing practices. I had to deal with a fraud case with them were an ex opened a card in my name and they told me it was my responsibility to pay it. . Never mind that it was a felony to forge my name.
I could go on forever about them but I won't. Just be careful about any add-on charges they want to apply to your 'new account'. They are good for that.

I don't have a credit card. I don't want to be in debt. I try to live within my means, so if I don't have the money for something, I don't buy it.
Having said that, I'm glad you got your money back. I wouldn't have expected it because they prey on people with bad or damaged credit.
