I have a bad cold. Now one of my nostrils is blocked. It's been the whole day and I am going crazy. I cannot work or sleep properly. Is there anything which can speed up my recovery? Make the block nose go away? I want to scream out loud!

I don't know if this will work for you, but you can boil some water and ppour it in a dish. Spoon some vicks vaporub, but a towel over your head and the dish and inhale the steam. It works for me as it instantly clears out my nostrils. Then you can also try airborne and some nasal spray to melt or soften the clogged nostrils.
Hope you get better soon.

That's a good idea but in the longer run, breathing exercises can be of great help

No there is no way to speed up your recovery this is something your immune system has to do. The more stress, the more exhausted you are the longer it will take. So take your rest, try to sleep as much as possible, drink enough. Question is why your nose is blocked. Just because of the bad cold or might there be an other problem as well (perhaps partly swollen because of some allergy?). You could try out if the block is gone if you lay on your side (on or the other), bend your head down, use more pillows or...
Perhaps it's possible to inhale something (eucalyptus for example). Don't think screaming will help, but you can give it a try... you never know.

If the nose is blocked clear the nostrils by blowing hard so tha all the snot comes out. I'll share my Vaasi technique here:
* Take a stool and sit on it, in the toilet.Sit erect but not too stiff.
* Use the ring finger of your right hand to block the left nostril. Don't insert the finger into your nostril but press it closed from above, gently. Forcibly blow out from the right nostril. Breath in through the mouth or left(or Righ nostril)and blow out through the right nostril. Continue doing this till you have cleared your right side. Then do the same from the other nostril and repeatedly blow out air through the nostril.
* Take a small break and you can apply some butter to the nostrils.
* Now,keeping your mouth closed, you exhale forcibly through the right nostril and inhale from right and exhale through left. Then inhale from left and exhale through right.
You can hear your ears popping and eyes will water too.
* If the congestion is too much use de-congestants before you do this exercise.
Keep doing this daily and learn Pranayama(from you tube videos or a teacher)
* Blocked nose will be a distant memory from the past. Do not become dependent on inhalers.
