I have come to a country(not mentioning) only 40 days ago.I am here for 4 years.I am an undergraduate student in an university here. I am a Bangladeshi and east Asian origin.Since i came here,i saw many things bad about the racism.Especially the colors.Local people don't show any respect to the foreigners.Even some of my classmates(girl) treated me unfairly and I got hurt by them, although boys are much better okay.I have to pass 4 years of my life and bit worried about the nearer time, what to do?Suggest me friends.

I am sorry to hear what you experience. But I guess racism is not uncommon in a lot of countries. The only difference is the degree of seriousness. I hate racism. But I can understand some of the circumstances how this prejudice came about. In my country, there have been many cases where people that came from a certain continent engaged in criminal activities with the cover of being foreign students. So the locals are quite skeptical of them, and distancing themselves. Of course there are genuine foreign students but that is the general stigma that the locals have for them. I did personally hear some good comments from my friends who had dealings (landlord/tutor etc) with those foreign students from that continent that they were indeed law obedient, hard working students. So it is a case of a few bad apples that spoil the reputation. It is hard for you but you are the only people that can turn things around. Prove to them who treat you unfairly that you are a nice person. Disregard the rude and cowardly comments because you can never control what people have to say. Your character will speak for you in the long run. Just be strong. Just be forgiving with those ignorant souls.

hi, ohi2u. don't get bothered by these people, they haven't been educated well that is why they still have these prejudices. some people haven't been exposed to different cultures and they camouflage their ignorance by acting superior. you're going to meet nice people too, in the long run. hope you'll be able to adjust well to your new environment.
