My oldest who has come down with pinworm has an appointment on Monday for the orthodontist. I'm not sure if I need to tell them about it since she's taken the meds or if I should reschedule the appointment? Afterall they allow her in school she just has to use a seperate toilet for the next week and a half. So WWYD?

I would tell and ask how they look upon it, if it's ok to have the appointment (by that time the meds are already taken for longer as well) or it's better to make a new appointment (perhaps because of the meds as well).

I would suggest to stick with the appointment. Doctor knows better when it comes to this, and itll be good for your kid. To get rid of pinworm. Goodluck :)

You can mention it if you want, but I wouldn't worry about it. The dentist and hygenist/assistant wear gloves so aren't about to ingest any eggs or larvae (wrong end, too) and all tools get autoclaved after use.

I wouldn't worry, just ask if the medication information is necessary. They should all be wearing gloves so no danger of infection there.

Ok I never heard of pinworm, what is that? How do you get it and how do they treat this? Also what are the symptoms? If your daughter needs to use separate toilets for the next week or so I would definitely be rescheduling the dentist appointment for sure. Since to me it must be contagious to some degree if she needs to use separate toilet.

I'm in the ask advice group, after all her meds are hardly secret are they? You'll be rescheduled if needed.

hi 3SnuggleBunnies I think U would talk to the dentist about it and see what he has to say as I imagine ones overall health might have a bearing on dentistry too. I think its just sort of a precaution perhaps. I am not sure but yes I would tell the dentist.

I would call the office of the Dentist and ask if you need to reschedule - just as a preaution. I have never heard of pinworm

I have never heard of pinworms but I have heard of ringworm and if I remember right it is contagious. But I also that like strept throat that is also contagious that once you start taking the antibiotic you are okay to go back around others so if it is the same thing I wouldn't see why if she is in school around kids why she wouldn't be able to go to the doctors, just make sure she doesn't use the toilet while she is there. One thing you might want to do is contact her doctor that diagnosed her with the ringworm and see what they think because it might be something like not using the toilets being they will be in her mouth where her saliva is is it possible to spread that way and just see what they suggest!

I don't think that it would be too much of a concern of the orthodontists. Besides, your son is now under medication.

I would just reschedule and have her stay home until it's all better. Hope that she will soon be feeling better. Have a good evening.
