Let us go back to April 2012.
The North of England, April 2012. Following weeks of the news reporting that we were entering drought conditions.... It started to rain.
It started to rain in April 2012 -
And rain
And rain.
Every month had rainfall that broke records.
We had flooding on a weekly basis across the country.
Rain, rain and more bloody rain.
Then Winter came and it still rained and it also snowed - Rain, snow, rain, snow.
So 2013 - what now?
Rain, snow, rain, snow and now the cold
It is now March 22nd 2013 and parts of the UK are flooding following more rain, It is still cold - barely above freezing.
In the North of England it is snowing.
I have had enough now, I am sick of being wet and I am sick of being cold.
I want some sunshine, I want it to be warm.
Enough is enough....
I want to mow my lawn

Well, I wish someone over there would send us some over here in the US. We've had a little more snow this month, but not nearly enough to break the drought. This is farming country, so that means the price of food is skyrocketing because it won't rain!

A pipeline from the UK sounds good about now! Although it's snowing right now. It's going to take a lot to make up for the lack of precipitation the last few years, though.
robspeakman, I guess we just can't win. Too much rain, too little rain, too hot, too cold... always something.

We have had some rain starting last month, or rather, mostly snow, but I do not know if it is enough to break our drought. It just keeps being cold and windy mostly, so I would like to see the sun as well. I guess we need a pipeline from the UK.

Food prices are rising here too - crops are not growing here because the ground is saturated

I know what you mean my friend. It is happening here also. But not as much rain or snow as you are talking about. It is almost April and I want the warm weather to come in. It is taking time for that to happen. Today actually we do have sunshine. Nice!!!

I took my son to Manchester yesterday - Get him away from his computer and take him around a few museums.
It was freezing, barely above freezing. It was 24c this time last year.
I always had comtempt for those that claimed they had S.A.D. in the past... I do now see what they mean

It seems to be a bit the same everywhere. We are waiting for spring as well. I would like the sun to shine a few days in a row. We get a sunny day every now and again but not enough in sequence.

I would invite you out here as the prices decrease dramatically from March 31st. But with your luck you may well bring the bad weather with you. I am lying under a ceiling fan as it is 4 pm but I am still hot. I will go outside under a tree now to mylot for a little longer. I hate cold and snow.

I do think us British are walking around with our own little rain clouds, a bit like Charlie Brown.
Just a little sunshine - is that too much to ask for?

I know exactly how you feel. I can't stand the cold either. Fortunately, Carlisle is actually sheltered by the Pennines so it's unlikely we shall get lots of snow but, this time last year it was 22°C and absolutely gorgeous.
Today I've ordered a sunbed for Mum (belated Mother's Day present) that I will take to her on 1st April. I bet it's not warmed up by then either. I'm sick of it too.
In fact, at the moment I'd love to emigrate..and I should imagine a lot of Brits are thinking that way.

I know Janey...
We are British, we do not want much - A bit of sunshine for a few months.
A chance for us to get our shorts and T-shirts out.

I agree, we have had far more than our fair share of rain and snow recently. As you will remember we had a couple of days of really bright sunshine, but they were inconsistent because of the rain clouds that rapidly appeared. I was amazed that we could start the day with a bright clear sky, then change so vastly within an hour or so.

i hear ya. i love the snow a lot but i am now ready for spring. i feel like i haven't been able to feel warm for weeks now. i think maybe because we have had some amazingly beautiful days where you could go out with just a sweater on...maybe a t-shirt and then the sun goes down and it is dam freezing. i think we are all ready for our dose of Vitamin D.
