Hi Mylotters...In my region, farmers are so sad. They cannot have live prosperously...because their crops cannot cover their daily needs except basic needs. They cannot enjoy live in clover. In fact, they are not poor, if their land is counted, they have thousands dollars. But, their land cannot generate sufficient yields, in addition the worth of their crops in the market are low. Even, their live is worse than employee of factory.
What about your farmers in your region? Please you share...Thank you...

In my place, farmers do not earn what they deserve to be earning from their yields, the reason is there are those brokers who get to the farm and buy the produce at low prices and sell at very high prices in the urban areas.
So farmers do all the dirty and hard work and the brokers gain from their hard work.

Tsk! They are called the middlemen! This kind of business system is actually the reason why our farmers are becoming poorer and poorer each year, not only poor in money but more importantly in health. If only these farmers will also act as the middlemen then there will be more progress in their part.

Yes, You aright, friend. In my region this case also happened. Farmers get little advantages from their effort in the farm but broker take more. I think it is unfair, but it is the real. Maybe this case should paid attention by government, so the government can buy all crops from farmers and cut the broker chain. But, it is so difficult I think...

Yes, I agree with you in this. It's really sad that our farmers, who are considered the backbone of the country, are not living their life to the fullest and in prosperity. One cause of this maybe the lack of knowledge to run their land. Also one is the lack of innovation, which is really needed now-a-days. Most of our farmers already accepted that they are only farmers and that's all, but maybe if they think and aim bigger and higher then work it out, there is a possibility that they will live a better life. It's really not good that after all the manual hard works(rain or shine), the market price of the crops are so low. The ones who are gaining are those middle men and the retailers while the farmers get the minimum.

If they will be given the right knowledge and open their eyes then surely they will prosper. It has something to do with the "mindset" I guess. It has been registered to their minds that for them, farming is the only way of living. It's like "my great grand father was a farmer, my grand father was a farmer, my father is a farmer, and so I will also become a farmer."

Yes, you are right, most of farmers in my region do not improve their methods to choose plants and how to plant. They are only do like their parents work. They never try to make some breakthrough to make them get welfare, they are afraid with risk. That's why they cannot life better. it is so sad, I think...

Mass production of food by larger farmers and corporations make it hard for the little guy to compete. They have food down to a science.
Adversity breeds invention. Search the internet. There is much to learn about increasing yields with small areas of land. Minimal spacing can help. Raising different crops side by side changes the dynamics too. Let's not forget to grow specialty crops. These are the ones which sell for more because few people grow them. Finally comes growing totally organic crops. These are not only healthier for people but they bring a premium price at the market.
Enterprising can be tough, however the extra work not only brings in more money, it creates new ideas to make more.
Let's not just sit by and give up the fight. Let's get out there and figure out the next move.

They are not poor and they should not be sad it just happened they don't know how to utilize the usefulness of their farms for reason of laziness and if not poor thinking. I will give you and example. You have a one hectare of Ipil-Ipil. how many ipil-ipil plant you can raise in one hectare it is thousands. Ipil leaves is good for poultry or hug raising. The branches are good source of firewood. The fruit is a good source of medicine and it is easy to raise on any kind of soil. The reasons is maybe your farmers want more income on little investment. Some farmers is just waiting for rainy season to plant crops. Tehy are all idiots why not dig deep well and use the water to water the vegetables and more. Maybe your farmers are remnant of the medieval people who refuse to learn and work but want to enjoy.

In PH, there are poor and rich farmers. I think the issue is not about being a farmer.. It is a matter of maximizing resources and determination to succeed.

I see, I am sorry that this is the result of the government controlling your farmers. I guess it is high time that these farmers be united to voice out their concerns to the government. They have to start the move and fight for their right to live well

Hi friend... in my region, farmers need support from government to increase their welfare, because government has authority for this duty. Each field needs support from government I think. When the government apply rules that raising up their life I think they will get welfare.
