Recyling is getting to be frustrating

For year's i have been sorting and washing my recyclables and i noticed around November the garbage men have been taking my recycling. One week the garbage men took my entire recycling bin and threw it into the truck.I thought maybe they were confused and bought a new blue bin however the next week they took my recyclables again.I watched them take my garbage, throw the recycling in with the garbage than drive away.Shortly after the recycling truck goes by and stops at only one house and keep's going around the corner...does the garbage men do this at your house or do they somehow sort it at the place where the garbage goes?

I saw an expose` of this on tv a long time ago. I was hoping no more of this was being don. They showed everything being thrown together once they got to the landfills. I think most, or at least many have restructured things. I know the last time we took some things to our county dump, they had different places for the different types of recycling. I was glad to see this. Perhaps you should write a letter to someone in office about this. I wish everything was recyclable! I hate the amount of trash we go through! And I'm just talking about my own household!

I hate thing's that can't be recycled also. One of the woman that live on my street said she was going to call the recycling company and find out but i don't know if she ever did.I was thinking about using some of my plastics to plant plant's in this summer so i'm going to start saving them.

Sometimes I want to save the strangest things, thinking surely they can be used for something. But I usually resist the urge or I'd be some sort of recycling hoarder! [Some things I know I could use for crocheting, but! I haven't crocheted in years (and years)].

We're lucky that there's actually two separate companies that take the garbage, and the recyclables. Although they do come out the same day, Mondays, they clearly know which one is which. Is it only one company (or your local government) that picks up both your garbage and recyclables? Maybe they sort it out at the depot.

We don't do that here. Instead, the garbage men separate the recyclelable materials from the disposable ones in the factory. I guess it'll be a hassle if one truck collects the disposables and one truck for the recyclelable ones since the roads here are not that wide, and they're too congested most of the time, as well. I think it's a great idea that the garbage are categorized in the factory.

I noticed they did the same as I was living in Germany. Asked why they did that and the answer was: first to make people get used to separate their trash. Over here it's different. Paper, plastic, etc it's all collected on different days every 2 weeks. Also our city let us know what they do with it of if it's a succes at all. So they were collecting dirty diapers (pampers etc) for example first as a test. They did the same with plastic.

This sounds rather frustrating. You took the time out to sort it, then they just throw it all in. I would suggest pulling the recycling bin away from the garbage as they come by.

In my region, recycling is not to be frustrating, but it is to be a good job. There are many the garbage men that depend on their live on the garbage, because there are many factory that are ready receive all garbage that can recycle. usually, they sort the garbage at their house and then bring to the factory based on factory rule. I think they are happy doing in this field I never know the garbage men look frustrating with their job. They can increase their welfare.
