some people say that money is not everything, happiness has nothing to do with lots of money, one can be happy even with less money in the pocket.but is it practically possible to be happy with less amount of money in the pocket?
I think it is next to impossible,so if you think one can be happy with less money. If you think that it is practically possible then can you suggest even 5 ways to be happy with less money in pocket, and i will prove aleast one of the way wrong !!!!

The best things to have in life are happiness, good health and good luck. None of these things can be purchased.
I was given a free bike that was old. It had three gears and was ideal for cycling in the Netherlands. All the cycling gave me much fitness and happiness. I cycled to the university and on weekend cycled to picturesque villages.
On a hot sunny day in my home locality I like to go to the sandy beach with my two young children playing in the sand and my older son playing in the water. If my mum is with us I like to have a walk round the water over to Knight Stone Island. On the way I can see spectacular sea views.
I like to take my 3 year old daughter to a local children's park where I can see her play on the swings, slide and climbing frame. We got an opportunity to do that a couple of weeks ago.
I find it lovely to visit a garden center and see some beautiful plants. I especially like to see hardy palm like plants. I enjoy seeing water features. It is fun to look around the summer houses and sheds on offer.
Today I took my kids to the library and we borrowed some books for free. A library has lots of lovely books to read or look at.

Hello maximax,
You make such uplifting comments I really appreciate them.
I can not see how things that are free very much of a burden. In fact, if we truly can find things that are free like the things you have mentioned then money is really not so important anymore.
Don't get me wrong please, I like money but not when money or the lack of it makes me uptight and miserable. Maybe, I will visit the library soon.

Hello Bluedoll. In the library you will see travel guide books and try looking at some for your home country and local areas. Then check out free things and low cost things to do or see like museums possibly. I like to have a rail pass so train fares are very cheap. This can make excellent low cost days out in the summer time.
I have come home from some of my overseas traveling very poor. Over time my savings do build up again. I know what you mean when a lack of money makes you feel so sad. Try saving just a little and over a long period time it will add up. I am glad that you like my uplifting comments. Good luck.

I've not traveled for a while now and it is something that appeals to me. Just to get away and see something different does a person good. Not only do you feel better but it can be educational as well. Thanks for the tips, I may put some effort into this.

basically i think it is practically impossible to live a happy and prosperous life with less money .... weather u say that "i am happy with a less money" its just to satisfy yourself not others.. in any part of life or in any tern of life you get to realize that i have less money to live happy life or i don't have enough money to buy a smile on the faces of my loved once ....

I know I can live on less money because I have to live this way since we only have one income, Randy's disability. I have been searching high and low for a job, but have not found one yet. The job market here is terrible and many people are out of work. I do the best I can saving as much as I possibly can and make extra money on here. I am also in the process of starting an online business and am hoping that I will make a few extra bucks so I can help with the household expenses. Money is not everything and as long as everyone helps out you can make it.

I'm an incredibly happy person and I love my life, the only real problem I have is financial, My family struggles constantly to pay the basic bills, but that doesn't stop us from being happy.
Five things I do/have to be happy that takes minimal money:
Gardening: I love putting in a vegetable garden and it saves me money! Growing my own vegetable and fruits is very rewarding.
Chickens: I get huge enjoyment out of my hens. The are very interesting creatures, are fun to watch, are very social and make me eggs. The small amount of money it costs me to have chickens is nothing compared to how much they save me with the eggs they give.
Family: I am blessed with an awesome husband and fantastic son. I can't think of much in life that makes me happier than simply being with me family.
Walks and Bicycle Rides: I love going hiking and going out for bicycle rides. Hiking is free and although my bicycle did cost some money, I've had it for many years so the cost of it is minimal.
Dogs: My dogs bring me huge joy! All my dogs are rescues so were free and yes they do cost some money to maintain, but it is minimal as I make my own dog food from the vegetables I grown in the garden and the eggs my chickens lay.
Yes, we need money to survive (To pay our basic bills and but at least some of our food), but you don't need tons of money to be happy. I've noticed that money tends to make people greedy and unhappy.

Hi imphavok,
I think you have hit on a really important point. It is a wonderful attitude you have as well! Nice comment! ***** I specially like the one on chickens as I've done that as well. They are really something if managed right not only cost little but actually make you a little besides the happiness of having them. I liked when I let them start a new generation.
Writing: You can have interesting discussions with people and earn a little money to help pay for your computer. It can be a happy experience while you are earning.

i don't think that it is possible to be happy with less money.with less money you can survive but you can't fullfill your happiness and dreams. bill gates says that if you have money, you forget who are you but when you don't have money everybody forget that who are you. so with less money it is impossible to be happy.

Earning lot of money requires skill and time. Skill varies from person to person but time is same variable with everybody. Now both money and time are equally important to every person so one has to optimize the time and money to be happy. Earning more money will kill the time and Less money may not keep happy to anybody.

It is difficult to explain, but It depends on people I guess. Having lots of money can make us happy or either can make us a burden. It depends on each individual. Same with people that has less money, but I was wondering, if they have less money and they are living in a poverty level or let us say, our parents are going to die and you have less money on it, how could you be happy isn't it? Unlike those peopl that have lots of money, they can buy everything or heal your parents from a desease which helps them live longer.
That is how money is so important in a real world.

Actually, when one have a simple life he knows how to be happy even without much money.
Specially if both you and your husband are into simple living, just watching TV shows together with the children with some popcorn to eat will already be a happy occasion.

I will not write five things about being happy with less, perhaps someone else might. What I will say is it can be difficult without and those with these kinds of experiences can tell you so. I agree with this.
On the other hand having more money is not always a good either and certainly can have little to do with happiness. There are many example of that too. So, if we know money can not buy us happiness one thing it can do is make it easier to live and open doors for us. This is connected with our happiness if it is what we really desire.
If a person had made a huge amount of tips and carried a lot in his pocket it would be easier to walk a long distance without because change can get heavy.

The family I belong is not rich but I can say we are happy. Happiness is easy to get when you are surrounded by the people you love. Yes, it may be hard to to live daily with less money in your pocket but it is harder to live if you're not happy. I believe that money can't buy happiness.
