I just made a discussion and used some peoples names who are in a tv program. I think mylot should do something about letting us use names that have double meanings because sometimes there's no way around it. I used the nickname for Richard (if you know what that is) and got the message that it was in violation of mylot terms. Maybe if they fixed it so if you use a capital letter it won't be in violation knowing your not trying to say something that's considered 'mature content'. It's a persons name mylot please fix this....anyone else ever have this problem?

A member has a husband who's name is Rick-with-a-D* which I assume is a nice man. I understand what you are saying and sometimes though not too often it comes up for me as well and I have to scan and find the word that is causing the filter to give a hick up.
Although the filter can be tricked I think the practice is wrong except for cases like you are describing. It does a good job of not having offensive, rude or shadowy words that might take away from the quality of good discussions.
I like the filter being there and do not think it has a purpose though yes it is not perfect, I do appreciate that it is employed.
*short form name for Richard

I wonder if Rick Head would be let through too though. I suppose regardless of what you do to tweak it someone can find a way to go around it. What a handle to have hello, my name is Rick Head.
I suppose if we are look for accurate information and need to explain what word we want to use each time, it could be exaspirat'in.

What struck me odd the other day is that I got a response and someone had used a swear word, or what I'd class as an unsuitable word that surely should have been a violation. P.I.S.S if you use this as a word it's not thrown out. Now you'd think they'd have issues with this surely?

Are you saying that in a sentence, the drunken sailors stood by the tavern and proceeded to piss on the wall is not flagged by the filter.
We should remember that only some words are auto filtered and not manually filtered so unless we call a machine "they" then it is still only a small thing?

The filters are not clever at all. I noticed long ago that it was also forbidden to use these words in PMs, because the filters are also working for PMs. The only place where you can use the nickname for Richard is in a photo comment, don't ask me why. I don't know if a member would be authorized to have it for user name ? he would be difficult to quote.

I think many of us have this problem. To me it's annoying you are not able to explain (I assume a computer is picking these words out of the discussion) and by now there are so many words with (suddenly) a double meaning that most people also only know the second meaning which is mostly completely different from the Original meaning.

Hi there! i have had a lot of such experiences in mylot over my thousands of responses. hehe but i think they have a purpose as to why such words are censored, i agree because often i have mistyped some words and i do not intend it to be that and i am glad i could correct it. maybe if we are to use the nickk, and its not acceptable as it is similar to a censored word, we can just always use someone's real name :D

I am also fed up with this was well. Do we have to call the publishing companies and tell them to take back the books with the shortened form of Richard is in and tell them to remove it? Does there have to be a law where it is punishable by life imprisonment if you dare use the name D1ck. (of course I substituted the numeral symbol for his name) And sometimes I have to write a whole description for instance, in stead of using the word, pu$$y for a cat I have to write a nice cat who is very affectionate and then people are thinking that my English is not good and I do not blame them.
Needs fixing.

hi ct..I realized that there were several words that you can
not use and I just do not use them...but there are still words
that you can get around by using the (@#$%) for example....
But if they don't work for you, perhaps the admin will under=
stand your dilemma...

Hi,
I also have this experience. I used some words which violated the rules of mylot. It is very difficult for us to understand which words are not allowed on mylot.

Can not the filter thing that controls all of us be turned from one status to another. I thought I noticed this somewhere though I've left this little word stopper thing alone. When I see my words have been noticed by the fly catching machine I simply scan them and remove the one that caused the next window to appear.
I like the little word filter and leave it be for I think sometimes it is even funny. Though difficult to understand we can laugh and be grateful we have this. I know I am.
Humour is my best friend and companion. So is reading these kinds of discussions.
