Turned Out Well In The End

Some of you will know that I had to go and see the in-laws at their house at 11am today. I was a bit apprehensive about it as I hadn't seen the MIL for months since our little fall-out a while back. Anyway, it was all good as she was quiet anyway. 'Full of a cold' apparently. She was OK though, didn't ignore me or anything or I her. My FIL did most of the talking which is always good as I get along better with him anyway. I'm glad it's all back to normal, to be honest. I don't like bad feeling and I've no friends because I'm stubborn as a mule..so it's all good. After that little visit we picked up Mum's sunbed I bought her from Argos. It's quite retro actually, I like it. Hopefully, the weather will have picked up by the 1st April when I can take it to her. My brother has sent me £30 in the post for my b******* and Mum's transferred £50 (too much but what can you do) and that enabled me to buy a mother and child floor lamp from BHS. It had been reduced from £80 to £40 but - with a voucher code - I've actually bought it for £30 online. I am ecstatic about this as I have seen them for 'silly money' elsewhere. It should come next week sometime to the house rather than store pick up as delivery was free as well. I've also got the details for Tuesday for when I go into Day Surgery. I've got to be there for 8am and make sure I don't eat anything after midnight. I think I can manage that lol. So, all in all a good day so far. Below is a photograph of the lamp that's coming from BHS next week. Hope you like it as much as I do.

Hiya Hatley, there's nothing like a spot of retail therapy to make my day complete my friend.

No, we're not allowed to mention b******** and, anyway, it's not actually today but..er..in a few hours..but don't tell anybody. Many thanks for your kind wishes. I'm relieved when my official letter for Day Surgery came today. The postman was late, you see..and the money coming too cheered me up no end. Don't know what to do with it though but I'm sure I'll think of something!

I agree. I don't have any friends due to bad feeling and isolation from others isn't very nice..so something had to give.

I am so bappy that all went well for you and the inlaws. Perhaps it will remain so for many years to come. At least I hope so. The lamp is beautiful and the price you paid is oh so good. I am glad that your day went well

I'm so pleased it went well too. My FIL was brilliant, actually as he does make me laugh sometimes. He has a good sense of humour which helps him married to 'that' lol. Only joking..I think! As for the lamp, goodness me, I'm having so much good luck buying lighting from BHS, it's frightening. The other day there was an extra £5 using a code and today I ended up using another code with £10 off instead. I can't wait until it arrives during the week. It will have to be assembled but that's a small price to pay!

Looks like arguing with your mother in law worked. Scary. You won. Don't let the power go to your head, make sure you don't turn into the bully. Though I am sure you won't.

Everyone was sat down so we had no choice but to chat. It becomes difficult when my hubby and his Dad peel off and chat elsewhere, leaving me to try to make conversation with the MIL. Such a relief it's all over though!

Phew, I bet you are glad that's over with! So I was wrong, happy to be so in fact, because I was erring on the side of suspicion, wondering why she had suddenly reached out to you. Lets hope you can put it behind you and move on. So let me take this opportunity to wish you a wonderful day tomorrow my dear friend, you sure deserve it!

I`m glad that all ended well. Family is family after all and, although you don`t have to become close friends, you can all learn to be civil and polite. I don`t get along with all my family as our personalities tend to clash. But I can talk about the weather when we are together and leave the good conversations for my gettogethers with friends.

You're lucky, having lots of friends to fall back on. Mind you, I suppose my best friend is my husband and the female version is my Mum..so, not so bad.

I am glad that there was no scratching and biting between you and your MIL! But seriously, we all do encounter some indifference with our inlaws, most especially the MILs and it is hard sometimes to swallow your pride just to have a peaceful relationship for our husband's sake and the kids. So Cheers to all daughters in law who have outlived a day with their MILs!

Well I am glad you went to see the in-laws and I am glad that everything went well for you. See, everything should be good now. Like I said in a previous post you made about this, you need to let things go also as do they and cut your husband some slack. And I hope your surgery goes well.

Yes, I'm relieved our visit to the in-laws went well. No reason why it shouldn't, to be honest. I also got a visit from my SIL and her bf on my birthday as well, so that was nice of them to come round. My surgery did go well and I have a follow up appointment in August. It's early days but - if I compare how I feel now to how I felt after the Mirena Coil, there's no comparison. Plus the fact the surgeon actually came to see me afterwards this time, which was nice of her to do so. Explained everything she'd done.

It gives me much pleasure to learn that your MIL and you were finally reconciled. Anyway,It does you good. Here we have a saying-maybe it is not quite in place here-"better make friends than make enemies".The lamp is really a bargain at such a low price,50% discount.

Plus the £10 on top of that, making it £30. Currently, it's housed in the corner of the room and looks fab, I must say. I still call the MIL Chairman Mao (no offence) but I'd never say that to her face..obviously!

Maybe your getting along well takes time. Now what you have to do is to spare each other's feelings.

Good luck on your surgery, and sounds like you got some great deals, as well as being able to be with your extended family for a while.

Yes, it's been a good week all-in-all. I was apprehensive about the surgery (and I won't know for 5 months max if it's been successful or not) but at least there is a follow-up appointment in August, so I can discuss my health with someone then. I keep a diary which helps enormously as there's a nifty calendar at the front!

Well that is good but why so long before you know if it worked out for you?
