...compromising with cold food items..

Last year i was advised by the doc to leave having cold food items like ice creams or cold drinks or even taking cold water and even stay away from AC's. although it was tough for me to stay away from such things but i have avoided them as much as possible. It so happened that last year i was detected with cold allergy and whenever i used to sneeze every time after coming from a bath. once my sneezing started it used to continue for minutes and was very frustrating as i used to catch cold immediately then. Also i used to sneeze after moving outside. During summer whenever we used to turn on AC, i also sneezed like anything. I thought there was some serious issue in me and consulted a doc and they said it was cold allergy. So he advised to stay away from certain food items like curd, ice creams, cold water, etc. At times whenever i go to parties i have ice creams a bit but i have certainly reduced taking them like before. i wish i could take ice creams, curd and cold water but i cannot help also. What r your thoughts about this? Have u ever left eating something due to your illness? Plz do share your thoughts!

You and my son seem to share the same condition. He's had it when he was still a child. And just like you, it is impossible not to take all those cold stuff considering that our country is a tropical country. The weird thing is, I have those allergies too, but only during December when it is the coldest here in the country. i would have red patches on my legs. I usually just take an antihistamine to get rid of it.

Oh really, even your son has the same issue as mine? But it is terrible to know that your son is diagnosed with this issue from his childhood days and it would be difficult for him to stay away from the cold items. Besides what makes things difficult in my case is that being from a tropical country where summer is dominant throughout the year, I do not have the freedom to take cold items. What have u done for treating the cold problem of your son so far?

None, actually. Coz even if I do give him antihistamine, it still still stays there. So I just told him to deal with it. He would just be immuned with the medicines if he keeps on taking them.

Oh that's a not a nice illness, because the most delicious foods are cold. Anyway, you will soon get used to not having them. For the sake of getting well, just endure it, my dear.

Yes i have so far followed his advices very seriously as the medicines have not worked for me as i had expected them to be. Hence i have no options other than avoiding having any cold food items that would otherwise alleviate my cold allergy. so i am trying my level best to follow his advices and i hope i would get to see some tangible changes in my health in the future.

Yes you are absolutely right, i know it is not a nice illness at all as i am being made to stay away from all the delicious food unfortunately most of which are cold items but still as i have mentioned earlier that i have become used to it so i have made myself mentally strong that I need to sacrifice certain things to get some things.

Though I have not been diagnosed of cold allergy but I can remember vividly when I was younger, I used to have this allergy for black cats. Each time we visit a family friend's house who owns this breed of cat, I will be taken to the hospital the following day. No one knew the cause till the day my aunt went there with us.

Well even i am shocked to hear that you were having severe issues with the black cats so much so that you were being taken to the hospital then next day due to this. I think u should avoid coming in contact with this breed of cat as they are unnecessarily harming you and your body. I know there r certain medical stuffs that have no answers and i think u should talk to a good doc regarding this.

Yes you are right many people even me also facing this type of allergy. Its because of using cold things more and the sensitive nature of our body so we should take care ourselves and act upon doctor's advise. Don't worry when you get rid of allergy you can use cold things. Ice cream is also my favorite. How I stay away from ice cream its know me but what can I do health is very important.

Yeah although i do not have allergy towards cold items but it is true that i get cold issues once i take cold items. May be the cold items are going well with my body due to which i catch cold immediately and hence i felt it preferable to stick to what docs are saying so that slowly and gradually i can reduce their effects on me in the future.

I have cold allergy also and during winter I suffer from a runnining nose full of snivels. I tryed different medicine, but nothing will help seriously. So during the winter I prefer to stay at home in my worm room. And I imagine what a dusquisting look I have when I have a running nose, I even do not wear handkerchief, sometimes it makes no sense, I should wear several ones in such case.

Oh yes, i know it would be making you feel extremely weird and uncomfortable especially during the winters due to the running nose. I think u are just doing the right thing by staying indoors and if possible make yourself available near the hot items like heaters, burning woods where u can get warmth during winters. Hope u get well very soon.

Sorry to hear that you are going through something like this. I have never heard of something like that, but I am always open to learning about new things. Is there any kind of medicine that you could take for this condition? I hope there is something that you can take. Hope you can get well soon.

Oh, I'm so sorry for you. It is really hard if you have to give up some of your favorite dishes and things to eat and drink. I have allergies, and I'm kind of not permitted to eat, among others, honey and cinnamon. I rarely eat stuff with these in them (like really rarely, maybe 2-3 times a year or so), but every time I eat them, I only eat a small amount - as you do with the ice-cream. That way I'm not causing that much harm to my body, but I don't have to live my life without them.

Oh yes, even people develop allergies if they have certain items and hence they are advised by the docs to stay away from them as much as possible so they it does not harm them and their body. i am glad that u are staying away from honey and cinnamon and having very few amount of them in a year. This way u can treat your problem also.
