Some people don't need to study. They still manage to make excellent grades. The one time they study something, they don't do as well on their scores.
On the other hand there are those who have to study extra hard (extreme study) to pass because things don't stick with them the way it does with the others.
Surely this is true to all countries. Not only the U.S.

If I were to go off of hearsay, the US would be the last country I'd think of as a country of "Extreme studiers". Okay we aren't the ones with supposedly have super strict parents who punish you for so much as getting make a B.

But we recognize some peoples easily by their system...Well why I say this??? I gives you my experiment, actually I want to admit on "Institute of Business Administration" this university is in Pakistan but affiliated by University of Pennsylvania, If you only go there you understand how hard study you have to do to just takes the University test & scholarships is way too high, even A-levels sometimes fails to admit in this university...actually for me I do "Local Pakistan studies" which is not so nice so its hard to counter & reach on such a huge goals...I wish I do study in Big Universities likes my relatives...have a nice day...

I'm not an American but I studied in a university that's patterned on the American educational system. It is a bit expensive, true, but it's no different from the cost of enrolling in British schools. But if we confine it to study habits, I've also heard that there are Americans who I believe prefer to work after high school rather than get a college degree. But I think it might be because it's easier for them to find work even without a college degree. Where I'm from, even a college graduate finds it hard to get work. So I guess what I'm saying is that it's really not an issue of being an extremist or not. I mean, the educational system is in place as it is. It's whether people would pursue it or not that's the issue.

I really don't ever think that it is fair to judge an entire group of people based on the fact that some of the people in that group fall into a category. I guess what I am trying to say here is that though you might hear about the American people that do tend to be extremist, this is not something that applies for the vast majority of us.
There are some things which I will take an extreme stand on, but for the vast majority of things that I face in my life, I don't take an extreme stand, but rather a much more moderate stand.

Hello Tushavi!
I am interested in this discussion but I don't know what you mean by being an extremist. Can you please explain to me what it is?

I think not all US people, it depends on the personality of the person, if a person really want to be specialized on something, he will study hard to it to the extreme to know the facts and every details of that particular thing. As for me, when i was studying, i study to the extreme specially if the subject is my favorite subject, i don't hard on the other subject that i don't really like.

It depends on the person and how badly he wants to know the subject he's studying.

I fail to understand what you mean by 'extremist.'If you mean the Americans study with rapt attention and try to go deep and deeper in the subjects they study, then it's a admirable quality. The same thing you can say for Hebrews and Indians. If being an extremist is having the quality of doing a good thing with full devotion and concentration, then I think we all should have it.But now terrorists are dubbed as extremists.

What is extreme? Does it mean when they are interested, they pursue studies with all earnestness?Everybody when they get involved with studies, they study with great interest, whether he is British,Indian or American .If he is not interested he will never study, this is a universal truth and not particular to any country.

To say that would be the same as saying that all Muslims are terrorist because so many are. The world also gets a wrong view of what Christianity is because of the movies they see. They think all Christians are like those people in the movies because the USA is suppose to be a Christian country.

Hi~
Maybe it is because that US people usually don't study, when they come to what they truly love, they will do their utmost. I'm Chinese, the education system here requires us to be expert in almost every field before college. If we fails on one subject, it will be a huge disadvantage. And we have to work harder to improve it to at least average level. Once we get into college, every nerve in our bodies gets relaxed. Having fun seems to be the main part of college students' lives. I envy US people because they have time to think and to seek what they love, and then can donate themselves to the life career.
