India put the final nail in the coffin and hand a 4-0 whitewash to Australia. India will definitely climb to no 3 in Test match rankings and if luck is there with team India they can even climb to no 1. So the India tour to SA could be the series that would decide the no 1 rankings status. Now India should plan how to perform well in
SA well in advance. Sachin should retire from all form of cricket. It's now youngsters that is going to take Indian cricket forward.

Well, Sachin might already be thinking of retiring in coming times. May be he is waiting for his 200th test, and then quit. Let us wait for the South African tour.

To some extent I agree that Sachin should retire, but somehow still feel that he should keep on playing

But a youngster will get a chance to play in SA series if Sachin retires. The only positive point in India disaster tour of England and Australia is Virat Kohli. He got the experience and finally hit a century in final test. Though we may lose in SA but these youngster will learn a lot of things on that tour and that will help in others tour like NZ.

Of course India is a good team. There are many young energetic players. It's good that Dhoni had made double century, there must be consistency in his performance. If he performs like this there is a golden future for him. It's a home ground advantage too.

While many can say that Indian win was on subcontinental pitches that aid Indian batting and spinners, I would say that this Indian win counts among the best ones. First, we have seen many not so strong teams come to India, and even in worse conditions than this series pitches and with even stronger Indian spinners, or batting they did not get 0-4 drubbing. Secondly, we have seen tremendous efforts by captain Dhoni, Murali Vijay, Pujara, and that great ton by Shikhar Dhawan. In bowling, Bhuvanesh Kumar, R.Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja were excellent. Yes, Sachin did not fire too much, but still played a few good innings.
Compare this with times when India depended much on Sachin. Now, Indian team does not rely for its victory on just 1 or 2 individuals. Even in Ganguly's times, we had a big dependency on Sachin and Rahul Dravid or Laxman in batting, and on Anil Kumble in bowling to make us victorious.
Now, we are seeing more teamwork, and team spirit.
Yes, we have more sterner tests ahead- in South Africa later in the year. Yet with proper planning and efforts, India can do good there also.

Seems like most of us are very very interested in the South Africa series. Let us see how that series goes.

Yeah, in this series India really played as a team. This team is a real mixture of young and senior players. And the most important thing is that it all worked well whatever changes Dhoni had experimented. The new opening pair really gave a good start in all the innings which gave confidence for the coming batsmen to play shots. Also the rise of Jadeja as a perfect all-rounder for team India.

India did good to win the match on a crumbling wicket..
Dhoni did score 200+, but was in the 1st test, good to see centuries in the series by many Indians....they do get the confidence, but have to work hard to keep the momentum since they now have a huge gap in their upcoming SA series.
