Eggs are very healthy. They contain protein (about 6gm per egg) and many other essential nutrients including choline, selenium, B vitamins (folate and riboflavin), Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Lutein and zeaxanthin which are important for the eyes. They also contain quite high values of cholesterol but all cholesterol is not 'bad' and, in fact, it is a necessary part of the diet in moderation. The dangers of eating eggs, apart from the high cholesterol values, are mainly associated with the risks of transmitting salmonella from hens which are not farmed responsibly. To minimise this, make sure that your eggs are fresh and that you can trust the source, wash the eggs before breaking them and do not let the contents come into contact with the outside of the shell. Ideally, you should also avoid eating raw or undercooked egg but if a recipe uses raw egg, take especial care that the eggs are fresh and from a reputable source.

An egg contains about 200mg of cholesterol, all of it in the yolk, and there is no evidence to suggest that eating four egg yolks or less per week will increase your risk of heart disease. The recommended daily intake of cholesterol for a normal, healthy person is 300mg but people with cardiovascular disease, diabetes or a high LDL, or "bad", blood cholesterol level should limit dietary cholesterol to less than 200 mg a day. How much cholesterol you eat per day may safely be averaged out over a week.

Eating too much is unhealthy. If you do balance life, there will be no ban in food. Egg is healthy if you eat 1 a day or 1 every 2 day. But do not forget to take some exercise and do not build fat inside your body. No need too worry. And be moderate in eating.

It's a very old fairy tale that eggs are unhealthy. Years and Years ago (at least about 40 years or so) people did say that 1 egg a week is enough. By now there are plenty of diets, plenty of proves that this is not true. No matter if you eat 10 eggs a day (or more) there is no prove at all that this causes heart diseases. BTW our (dutch) dutch expression is: an apple a day keeps the doctor away. I never heard about an egg doing that. I wonder why you are confused about what people say how to eat or not to eat your egg(s). If you are able to afford you to eat them and you feel healthy then what is the problem????

I don't think you would get heart disease from eating eggs. But excessive eating of any food isn't healthy, either. I've mostly heard about the advantages of eating eggs. (well, for another fact: if we believed everything about disadvantages of every single food, we wouldn't eat anything :D, because you can find bad things about any meal or food online)

Hi, Eggs contains proteins. So people who are weak are advised by doctors to eat two eggs daily. It is true that who have cholesterol problem should not eat more eggs. You can eat fruits daily. They have no bad effects on our health.
