Here is the issue...When I first received the phone I charged it...fine. Then I called to get my minutes and phone number transferred from my old phone to the new phone..sounds simple right? well it was simple they transferred my old number to the new phone...along with my 322 odd minutes...great now I am getting somewhere, or sort I thought. mimutes show up on the new phone...BamBam...now I call to get the 1450 free minutes activated to my new phone...oh not yet ..I still can't make or receive calls...So this morning I called again...Third person in as many days...The gentleman took me through a number on codes entries. Then, READY FOR THIS...he advised that my phone is activated but I will never be able to use it because the phone I had first had a phone number belonging to AT&T and this new phone needs a number from Verizon. second my old phone has a sim card and the new phone does not..WHAT??? Well now I am getting a little ticked off...why didn't the idiot who transferred the minutes/number know this...ARE YOU STILL WITH ME.. THERES MORE" so now I have two cellphones and neither one of them worked,,So I asked him could ne just transfer the phone number back to the old phone and leave the minutes on the new phone...NO CAN DO...SO i ended up tranferreing the number back to the old and the 1780.(the old minutes and the additional 1450 free minutes on the new phone.....NOW..this is where I am...I have to wait for Tracfone to send me a new Sim card for the old phone because the old Sim card was deleted once the minutes were first transferred to the new phone...Its going to take 3-4 days to recieve...when I receive it I have to call them back and they will assist me to get my old phone working...as far as the new phone he advised me that based on the serial number to this new phone, there is a phone number assigned and as soon as I buy my first pre paid card ahd add it..My phone will be working... I am not even angry because I just don;t use my cell phone often at all and thank God I don't...so that my extreme suffering this weekend.. and guess what, the man I was talking to was in HONDURAS.....WTF?????

hi Bj, OMG ..went through this exact same scenario with tracfone! like you, i barely use my phone. it is for emergencies mainly. it was a nightmare. i did all that with the sims card...the whole 9 yards. in the end, i just bit the loss and bought a new phone and new minutes and started from scratch. oh and it does not help that you can barely understand the people that you call for help! All our call centers are pretty much overseas and good luck in understanding any of what they are saying to you. They speak good english but the accent is so strong that you just can't understand them. i always feel bad for them because i really can't understand most of them.

at the time that i was going thru this ..i did have a bit of an emergency on my hands. my very pregnant daughter was living across town with no phone and no vehicle. it was very importnt to get this phone working properly so that i could let her borrow it to make a call if needed. She had already lost two babies and this was a high risk pregnancy. it all worked out but what a time we had.

Well, I could have said 'I told you so' but I won't. Verizon is the pits. Seems like a big mess just to have this great smart phone. Why couldn't he phone do it all since it is supposed to be smart? Honduras? What will they think of next?

I only have a landline. I have had several situations where I wish I had a cell phone. And would love to have a smartphone for times when I am setting waiting for one of the kids at an appointment. That wouldn't be all the time I won't pay big bucks for monthly contract or anything like that. But yet I want all the bells and whistles. So.....??!!

Like I said I know others with smartphones and they have not had any problems...So once I am up and working I don't anticipate having any problems...after all I only use cell pbones very sparingly.... and I do have a spare phone to use other than my landline...

Who did you buy the phone through? You can change your number from carrier to carrier, but if you stayed wi the same carrier, I don't understand why they sent you a phone from a different carrier.

I didn't want to change the number I was advised before I purchased the phone that I can keep the same number because it was tracfone to fracfone..No one even said anything about on phone has a sim card and some don't...No one sent me a phone, I purchased an upgraded tracfone... fortunately its just going to be taken care of and I still have my sanity..I still have all my minutes and its just a inconvenience for me...but like I said I don't use my cell phone that much. I have only used it twice since I came back from my brothers in January...so thats why I haven't really lost ky kool...yet....

I am sorry that you having trouble with your cell phone. I want to get a smart phone for Randy, but after what you are going through I am certain that we will have the issue since we also have AT&T. I hope you have a home phone that you can use in the meantime in case someone needs to get a hold of you. I noticed lately that whenever you call someone they are not always from the United States. Last week Randy bought me a refurbished desk top computer and when we called to rehook up the Internet we got someone from China and could hardly understand them.

Thanks dar, I do have a home phone that I use all the time. I have not used my cellphone but maybe twice since January, so I am not too upset...its just annoying about all the different sim card thing, different carrier for the same phone... Yes actually you know what I am talking about with outsourcing of so many call centers...the main office for tracfone is actually in Miami...but the call center is outsoursed...what else is new..LOL...

Its quite hard for me to stay without a phone and I cant understand how the person had sold the phone to you knowing that its wont be possible for you to use.Its just ridiculous.

Well thats not what happene...Had I just added my free minutes that came with the Smartfone to the phone I be working right now, However I was advised that because its trac to trac I wanted to keep my same number...It was a ridiculous because I was not advised about the possibity on sim card and the phone I purchased was not sim card...of which I would have ever asked because I know next to gilch about sim cards and what not... But thanks for responding after reading that long story...

I have smartphone. I have no problem receiving calls or text. Sending text and making a call no problem. But I agree with you, smartphone is a very complicated phone lol. i had several problems with it before like charging, or the phone shutsdown and then on and off. Etc. But if you want to get new phone, better stay away from smartphones, and get samsung. It is good also because I have spare phones, and its better easier to use and user friendly. xx
