On the second day of our vacation (a Saturday morning) the car broke down and we had to call AAA for help. The problem where to take the car as we had no idea and asked for the name of a dealership. The lady at AAA was able to give us the name of a few near our location. Two were busy and could not look at the car until Tuesday at the earliest. The third was also busy but agreed to work us in and see if they could find the problem. Once at the dealership the Office Manager asked where we were going to stay, it was late in the afternoon and a major winter storm was closing in and i had no idea what was available. She called several motels and we finally found one at a reasonable price. Then she had one of the workers help us load our luggage into another van and they took us to the motel and said they would pick us up Monday morning after they fixed the car. Later in the afternoon they called with the news that they found the problem and could have it fixed by Monday morning.
The other bright side was the tow truck company. The tow truck could take two of us but not the other two passengers. They could call a cab but that would be over $50 if they could find one to come out. The supervisor of the towing company then suggested that he drive the other pick up out to bring the rest of them back. Ofter we got to the dealership they waited to see that we were taken care of.
In a difficult time for my family we saw the best in people who went above and beyound to help us. That evening I called AAA back and let them know of the outstanding service we received from the towing company. They will pass it along as they can not release the information to the public. I am also going to talk to the manager of the dealership to complement him on his staff. For total strangers who were almost 500 miles from home we received excellent service and none of the businesses can expect to receive business from us in the future as we have no reason to return this way. It is nice to see all the good people willing to help out a stranded traveler.

It surely depend on the place and people near to which we got stuck. Last time when my truck got stuck at an unknown location, I really worried about getting it fixed. One man who crossed me told about a truckers assist near by and they helped me fix it. I was really pleased by the people over there.
Trucker Assist offers 24 hour Emergency Truck Repair, Mechanical Repairs, Electrical Repairs and Tire Repairs services in locations including Ohio.

I always see that despite the fact that people nowadays can be a bit negligent due to their own problems and the cutthroat world of today, most people are actually nice and caring. If I feel unwell, I always get someone to ask me if I am well, or if I need a glass of water. Or someone would offer me a candy if I cough. It's always nice to have experiences like yours to see that people are willing to help people they don't even know.

I agree with you although I can't say the roadservices in my country are that great. It happend many times that they did let me down. Jus said the road did not exist (although I was standing under the sign where the name of the road was written on). They are very expensive and stated way too often that they can't find it.
On the other hand.. if I am in the middle of nowhere always someone seem to show up and help me out. It's amazing how helpful these people are.
