Guns....The Madness Continues

A very interesting article from Michele Salcedo of Yahoo.com centers around both sides of the ever going gun debate. While New York mayor Michael Bloomberg, once a republican turned independent squares off with NRA head honcho Wayne LaPierre tackle these issues, the line's drawn wider. Bloomberg $12 million dollars into 'Mayors Against Illegal Guns', is a bill that is requiring background checks for anyone wanting to obtain a gun, while LaPierre claims that this will not help the situations of law abiding citizens, feeling less safe from those that can obtain guns with messy mental health issues.
Calling the tactic "a dishonest premise" LaPierre claims that universal background checks stomps on those that are law abiding citizens who feel that their 2nd Amendment rights would be compromised due to the ever going gun violence in our country. The Sandy Hook massacre that killed 20 children and 6 adults, a movie theater blood bath that took eleven innocent lives,to the two teenage tragedies of unnecessary gun violence. In retrospect, the bill would also ban assault weapons that carries heavy ammunition rounds in high capacity magazines.
90% of Americans and 80% members of the NRA supports universal background checks. However, LaPierre adds that they would like to see Congress pass a law that would retrieve records of the mentally incompetent and dangerous individuals, better enforcement of federal gun laws, and beefed up penalties for illegal gun trafficking and third party purchases.
If 'mentally challenged' perpetrators are to blame, you can also blame those of authority. Let's talk about East Cleveland, where two people were gunned down Bonnie & Clyde style after a high speed chase. Thirteen police officers stated that the couple inside the car were evading the police due to having weapons in their vehicle. 131 rounds were fired into the car, where it was later proven that there was no weapon in sight.
Have we became our own worse enemies? Shoot first, ask questions when it's too late? Taking away guns is not going to solve all the deadly violence in our country, but how many more innocent people are going to be slaughtered like cattle just to make a point? Why does LaPierre feel that arming schools with security guards with bigger, nastier weapons are going to make our children, let alone, anyone feel safe again? To stop gun violence from strangers, the best solution is to arm people, *teachers included* with more guns, to stop gun violence is to add more gun violence.
Does anybody see anything remotely wrong with this notion? We've become trigger happy that we can arm educators? You can't stop violence with more violence. That's not a solution, that's mentally incompetence in itself.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said on Sunday: Sometimes government does know best. And in those cases, Americans should just cede their rights.
“I do think there are certain times we should infringe on your freedom,” Mr. Bloomberg said, during an appearance on NBC. He made the statement during discussion of his soda ban — just shot down by the courts — and insistence that his fight to control sugary drink portion sizes in the city would go forth.
I think that says it all.

"And with that, why do you think the courts shot down the soda ban?
Because...its an infringement on freedom."
Actually freedom had nothing to do with it. The ban was shot down because it was very arbitrary with who it did and didn't apply to. A Pizza place couldn't sell a two liter, but a convenient store right next to them could. That kind of arbitrary behavior is why the law was shot down.

"Taskr, now it's my turn to say that you are contradicting yourself."
How? By correcting your inaccurate statement? The judge's ruling had nothing to do with freedom. He cited two issues, the arbitrary nature of the ban, and the method with which Bloomberg made the ban happen, through a group of people he appointed, rather than elected members of the City Council.

"And Taskr, it clearly shows that with all your hate & humdrum basement/bunker rants you're young."
There's no hate in what I've sad, and I'm an adult, so I don't know what you consider young. I just pity you for your inability to learn. How old are you Bluebell? Your outlook is centered around blaming others for your own sad life. Maybe you've just learned that what you want won't be handed to you on a silver platter and you're struggling with the realization that you'll have to work for what you want. I hope that you're young, so you have time to improve yourself. If you're older and still have such a negative outlook, riddled with ignorance, you'll probably never get any better.
You speak about lies, but as you can see, I back up everything I say with proof. I never hesitate to provide sources so you too, can learn. I suggest you do some reading. Educate yourself. Cursing at Debra and I won't do you any good. We're both happy with our lives.

It's easier to judge than getting to know people, right?
Your analysis on me clearly states your poor, racist, hateful views on us second class citizens. My outlook is centered on blaming others for my problems? I need things to be given to me on a silver platter?!
Let me tell you one thing, I don't need anyone...ANYONE to give me anything that I could never earn on my own. How dare you insinuate otherwise!!!! My life is far from sad! I'm nowhere near ignorant, and I work! Never in my life did I want the government to do anything for me! Speak for yourself!
I am 34 years old, live on my own, pay my own bills, I'm a college graduate, and I have a full time job! You look down on those that are on welfare, but not everyone on welfare are sitting on their a---s waiting for a check to come in the mail!
There are those that abuse the system, making others hard to keep their heads above water. How old are you? Are you working or retired? Do you collect disability or social security? You will one day, right?
I'm very active in my community and I work hard to provide for the ones I love. I pity you and yours that society has crippled you into living your life to your own personal happiness and not in fear because of some individuals that think solving everyday problems is to kill.
Just because you provide "proof" every time doesn't mean it's always true. (Your words, not mine You told Debater that the information he puts out are on liberal blog sites) So, if I'm completely misinformed about my information, what do you think your 'facts' are?
If anyone needs to educate themselves is you. You're so one sided it's beginning to be comical for me to just laugh at you and shake my head. You have a negative attitude on this site, always b------g and complaining about what the government is doing or isn't doing. Are you or anyone else for that matter doing anything to change anything?
No. So, until you have that epiphany of doing something instead of complaining about it, SHUT THE F--- UP!

LOL, you quote crime stats and then say disarm the law abiding citizens. Do you realize how foolish that sounds? No, I guess you wouldn't.

"Since you don't believe me (which is fine) here's a stat. My town of Cleveland. We'll take a up-to-do area called Beachwood, Ohio. (Three miles from my home) Grade A school system, average family income of &150,000 or more, a real beautiful area.
Why has the murder rate jumped from 16% to 58% in one year? Can you tell any of us that? No. I don't think so."
Are you trying to tell me that 58% of the people there were murdered last year? You're claim makes absolutely no sense at all.
No, I can't because you are LYING. In fact, Beachwood, OH HAS A MURDER RATE OF ZERO. That's right. NOBODY has been murdered in Beachwood, OH in the most recent crime statistics. In fact, I can't even find any murders that have happened there since 2006. If you think a murder has happened there, please link me to a story about it, or the crime statistics showing said murder.
Do you think that I can't tell when you make numbers up? It's really obvious that you don't even know how statistics and murder rates are written based on your lies. Do a little research. Find me the last time someone was murdered in Beachwood, OH, since that's the example you chose. Here are some statistics for you on murders there.

"If anyone is more oblivious and naive is you, bro."
If I'm so naive, how do I keep catching you in your lies and bogus claims? How is it that I am the one backing my arguments with facts while you are spouting left wing talking points?

Well, Taskr, had it not been for someone who is gung ho about stats and what not (even the stats you and Debra keep mentioning are completely flawed, but that's another story for another day) it never amazes me on how much of the ignorance people like you believe on a daily basis. Then again, I guess I don't expect much coming from either of you.
