Our new babies

Our new babies - My cat Callie's new brood. They were born on 3/21 and 3/22.

The tan and white is the oldest, calico is second born, smoke gray is the third born and the solid buff is the youngest.

I told everyone a little bit over a week ago that our cat, Callie was going to be a momma. Well, it happened for her on Thursday evening and into Friday morning, she delivered a litter of four precious kittens. This was the first (and only time) that she will be allowed to have kittens, but I definitely have to admit that they are adorable. I'm particularly fond of the calico (I helped deliver that one) and the smoke gray one.

They are so lovely that it will be hard for you to let go of them. I am sure that if it were me then I would end up keeping at least one kitten - perhaps the one I helped to deliver? Are you going to sell them ot give them away. They look very adorable and cute. I know that you will enjoy watching their growth and antics over the next few weeks

It wasn't a severe problem, she delivered the second very soon after the first being born so she wasn't right on getting the sac off of the little babies face. She came out okay, but I was worried because Callie wasn't clearing the baby's face.

It is the one that I helped to deliver that I am the most fond of. Probably because of my hand in her birth. We will most likely be keeping just one of them and the others will be given to friends and family members that have already expressed an interest in adopting one of them.

dorannmwin Happy to note that your cat Callie has become momma for four kittens. The good point in that is you like them very much. that is really nice. Will all of them be in your house or will they be moving outside the house to other houses. good day.

We are seriously considering keeping one of them when they get old enough to be rehomed, but we aren't sure yet. The rest of the kittens will be given to friends and family members that have already told us that they would love to adopt one of the four of them.

They are so cute! I could go into a long talk about genes and why they are the colors they are, I'm going to guess the yellow ones are male, but I won't bother you with all that. I read PAGES on the subject because that's the kind of crazy stuff I'm interested in!

While black is a dominate gene, it sort of depends on where the cat is getting it. A Siamese first generation offspring is always black. I don't know what color mom is, it looks like there might also be a "dilute" gene going on. Calicoes are females carrying the dominate "red" (we call it orange or yellow/buff but the scientists call it red) and dominate "black" on each of the "X" chromosomes with white spotting that gives them the white. That is why I suspect the "red" ones are males.

I'm really not experienced in sexing cats, it seems to me that all of them are males except for the calico that we've got of the kittens. These kittens mother is a traditional black, white and "red" calico.

It really does puzzle me to a certain extent because the father is a solid black cat so I was shocked to see the yellow ones. I was really waiting for our solid black kitten, but we didn't get one. Oh well though, I really think that they are all just adorable.

They are so adorable. I never allowed my two female cats to get pregnant because I would want to keep them all and Randy would not allow me to. I love calico cats as well because I have a Calico/Persian mix and she is beautiful. Her name is Kali. I am sure they will stay with you for a couple of months because they cannot be separated from their mom until they are 8 weeks old.

They will be staying with us until they are old enough to be rehomed into their new forever homes. I too am particularly fond of calico cats, two of our three cats are calico, Callie is the traditional calico and Peaches is a muted calico (she is white, buff and gray).

Until just a few years ago, I'd never had a cat as my mother didn't like cats so I never had one growing up. However, now that I've been a cat owner, I really couldn't begin to imagine my life without pet cats.

We actually had two dogs at the time that we got our first cat and I didn't know how either of them would react to a cat in the house, but I was shocked to see that it wasn't any kind of an issue at all to add the new member to our family.

I am so glad you told us. Did the kids get to watch? it's a wonderful lesson for children. Enjoy.

Tom and I had really hoped that the children would have been able to watch, but she didn't deliver the first one until after bedtime. However, the kids were able to watch and see what Callie went through during the early stages of her labor.

Our situation is very much the same. As much as my children would love to be able to keep all of the kittens, I know that we are going to have to rehome at least three of them. That is okay though because we have friends and family members that have already expressed an interest in adopting them.

For right now, they can't leave since they are so young. However, once they are old enough to leave their mother, we will be giving them all away except for maybe one (we haven't decided for sure yet). I know that we have several friends that are interested in adopting one of them.

I honestly didn't used to really be a cat person, but since we adopted our first cat a few years ago, I've come to really love having a cat as a part of our family and I'm really enjoying watching these babies growing up.

They are adorable. I might have a cat who is expecting as well. We don't know for sure but the night before our new cat was suppose to go get fixed she decided to go into heat and apparently he thought he was old enough to do something about it. LOL so it's a wait and see game right now. In a way I hope she is because it would be a nice experience for the kids, but I really hope she's not because I don't really want the extra work right now of making sure the kittens are being taken care of. I will if I have to but I'd rather not. LOL.

The kittens really haven't been a huge burden for us yet. Of course at this point in time, they are only at the point that their eyes are all starting to open. I guess the fun is really going to be starting for us in about a week or so when they are getting more mobile.

I consider myself to be very lucky that I'm not allergic to any animals. I was never really fond of cats when I was younger, but when my daughter brought home the first stray when she was seven, I actually realized that I rather like cats.

That's nice. Some people here in our house don't like to see kittens but I remember when I'm in highschool I love the kittens in the house. I even buy a small feeding bottle toy for them to give them milk.
