Does God like to be loved or worshiped ?

It may seem like treason to say you don't want to worship God, that is, if you really are a religious person. But in christian faith God has been portrayed as a loving father who, in the form of Jesus gave his life to save mankind. How then can we equate him with ancient kings who wanted their subjects to worship them. When God created man in the form of Adam he did not insist that he should be worshiped but gave a rule by which Adam should abide. So my view is that God likes to be loved as a loving father rather than seeking everyone to bow before his authority and worship him. It is man who created the image of God as a king with fire bellowing out of his nostrils just to satisfy his selfish needs. Do you have a different view, my fellow myLoters ?

He is the source of love so no need to love Him. We just must worship Him with all our heart, meaning we don't ask questions and follow his Words.

Yes, we obey him like servants. I am saying this coz God for me is the 10 commandments. God for me is not what a specific religion says. The common thing religions tell us is to follow the 10 commandments by heart. So if we follow the commandments then we for sure are thinking of others and not ourselves. If I do it then I am already expressing love. I am being godly. So if there is really a god above, I do consider him a tyrant boss that I have to prove my worth to by simply following his rules. These rules are pretty straight and it is hard to follow.

You seem a bit conservative. God is love but he expects his creations to behave in a similar way. Wouldn't it be odd if we obeyed him like a servant without the emotion of love!

It's a shame you think 'worshiping' is nothing but a ceremonial politesse like "bowing" or "kneeling-to"---in that case, the performer 'worships' their audience and the emergency-medical-worker 'worships' their patients. We 'worship' G*d when we follow His Greatest Commandments.

True love transcends worship and physical gestures are only a means to show our inner feelings. As you rightly said, obeying him is more important than any outward gestures. Got the point mythociate!

Well to be very honest, the Almighty had never asked us anything except for the love respect and devotion towards him and that too with the true heart. if we show our devotion to Him in the form of worshiping them then there is no issue, what is important is doing this everything with a true heart.

Well said subhojit. I couldn't have said better than that. God wants us to be true in whatever we do and if we love him truly worship would not be an issue at all.
