That groundhog LIED!

That's right! That groundhog lied when he said we were going to have an early spring! This is NUTS. it's spring and we are having our second winter. I had to get out into the cold today to go to the grocery store. I wore my jeans, socks, top and sweatshirt. I should have gone back inside and got my winter coat but I didn't. The wind is blowing and it is 38 degrees F. My head was really cold.
I know you folks in Canada and in the nirthern US will say its not cold here, but it is. I dont care if you are used to 30 beliw zero weather. Im freaking cold as a witch's tit on the shady side of an iceberg. This is winter weather. Winter in 2011 -2012 was summer all winter. Now looks like we will continue to have winter for awhile. If I wanted to live in cold weather I'd still be up in NY. Global warming my azz.

0 C is 32 F. That's freezing! I saw some guy today that looked stupid. He was wearing a hoody, gloves and shorts. Like he didn't dress all the way before he came out this morning. The wind is icy cold.

Yes, he did lie, PQ. Early Spring, my butt!
It began snowing here yesterday and it's STILL snowing! I've shoveled our sidewalk twice already.
Here is a photo I took from my back door this morning.

I'm glad to hear that you're over it, Hatley. Take care of yourself so you don't have a relapse!
The snow we got (about 8 - 9 inches) is almost gone already. It's not warm but it is above freezing, 37F right now and supposed to be in the mid-40's for the rest of the week. That's not great but enough to at least melt this snow. Next week it should be up into the 60's here, more like Spring is supposed to be.

I hear ya, MoonGypsy. I'm ready for it to warm up. I'll take summer any day. Spring melts into summer pretty fast usually.

What people do not seem to realize is that THIs IS SPRING! Spring is a period of crazy winds and weird weather. Right up until about mid May when the snow melts off the mountains and farmers and gardeners start planting. And with the warming going on all over it helps to cause weird weather anyway- all year long basically.

Cold huh? It's been in the high 40's or mid 50's here. I feel fortunate with all the craziness in the country. I wonder when the festivities will begin in the way of earthquakes up Yellowstone way.

It's normally always warm here by the end of February. Last year I was invited to go swimming in April. It's days like today that make me wish we had moved to Florida.

Same over here. I am already checking the weather forecast since weeks. Each time it's 4 days or 14 days ahead great weather etc.. but 1 day in front suddenly it's snowing, very cold etc. March 23 was the coldest day since 100 years! Yesterday (march 25 same). I wonder how come that since they are "able" to foresay the weather so many days in foreward it never fits.
We have a hard time over here as well. Also a strong cold wind blowing through the whole house :-(

This is what we get for listening to "predictions" by an animal that cant talk. Or at least letting people think they can interpret the "predictions" of the groundhog.
In a way, my area here in Kansas needs the moisture for crops to grow, so while I may not like the cold and snow, I think it is necessary to grow crops.

We have also had moisture. A couple of says last week we had pouring down rain. So cold too. It's so weird because the previous winter was disguised as summer. Spring was hot too. This year is so cold. But it should warm up by next week.

Ya thats is the good thing too as it is supposed to warm up here this week as well. I just hope we dont get another cold snap as that tends to make people sick. I dont like the seesawing warm and cold days.

So not Kill Bill then? Interesting I didn't know that cute little critter had a name. Well it certainly ain't Spring here in the UK, I have never known it to snow this late in March, but when you look out the window it looks like we're still in mid Winter!

Here in N.Ireland,I'd only be familiar with Phil from the '93 Bill Murray Movie "Groundhog Day"..I think He's known as Punxsutawney Phil for the Pennsylvania town where this event takes place each year..
Apparently,there's a groundhog.org website for his updates!

Think of this way come summer when it is so hot we will be sticking our heads in the freezer compartment of our refrigerators telling anyone that asks we are checking out the food stocks when in fact the reason is to cool off. I regularly check all the ice cream in the frozen food section just to cool down some. The heat will get here eventually and will you be ready for it?

Sometimes I wonder where the ground hog comes up with this stuff some years! This year so far he has been right, for here, that's nice. I hate when it is wrong though.

I don't know where the tradition came from. It's kind of fun to see all the news about Phil and the Atlanta groundhog on TV that day. I wonder if every state has a special groundhog?

I wonder that too. How can a groundhog in NY tell me what my weather will be? I just think its silly nonsense but its still funny none the less.

We are definitely having strange weather temperatures over in the UK. Usually by the beginning March we'd have seen the last of the snow and we'd be well into the Spring now, but no such luck, it's freezing out! And yes we had more snow. Probably one of the coldest March's on record! And the clocks go forward this Sunday to denote Summer time begins. Laughter, Summertime? More like winter time.

Girl, I just stepped outside at 6:20am and it is 23 degrees this morning. I'm not going to get upset over it because my electricity bill will be lower than it is in the summer, but wow. I didn't expect to still have achy joints so close to April. The cold always gets my joints, as I'm sure you know.

That's about right about freezing to the pole. Although the temps never really got to freezing here all winter it was still very cold.
