I will be so glad when this job is over

I have been working a job doing tax preparation since January. I can honestly say I do not like this job. I think maybe if I was in the office that was not as slow I might like it a little bit better. They fed all of us lies during our training. All of us that were new were told we would not be in the office by ourselves. Taxes can be tricky and there are a lot of questions that a new person can have. Since week 1 I have been in this office by myself 90 percent of the time. It is very frustrating. Only 21 more days until tax season is over and I cannot wait. I will miss the money but I will not miss the job.
Have you ever had a job that you couldn't stand? Do you ever sit at work and counting down the minutes until you can leave?

I bet this year has been especially hard since the government was not prepared and therefore delayed when people can file then the college students who could receive the educational credit have delays in their refund (I am in this boat and it is frustrating). I remember one year I worked at JC Penney's during Christmas and it was horrible. I would work until 1 or 2 in the morning then I would come home and study until 5 in the morning then shower then went to school. I had a final exam one day and asked three weeks in advanced for the day off or to at least work until 6PM, but I still had to work until 2 AM and then was so unprepared for my final. I got a C and was upset because I did not get a chance to study.

We had a lot of unhappy customers with the education credits thing. It has really not been a fun tax season.
I would have been very upset with my employer if they had done that to me. Heck I think I might have just call off work if I were in your shoes.

My very first job happened to be like that. And back then I was still an insecure newly graduate that I can't even muster enough courage to speak to my manager about this. After staying and toughing it there for a year, I finally told my manager about it. At first he is shocked because he thought I was doing just fine. Turns out he will never know my issues are unless I told him that. But then it was my first job and I thought it wouldn't be nice if I will have complaints like that.

There are 2 jobs I hated and both involved Cold Calling. At least one was only a temp job so it was only a couple of days. The other one was Telemarketing for a local newspaper and I quite after 1 week - couldn't stand anymore of it!!

Well, my last fuyll time job was hell on earth with my boss but I liked the majority of the people and it wasn't boring. I do think that you were slightly conned and you are being taken advantage of by having to work on your own. Not good. The money is important but I will be happy if you could find something else quickly - and something that you like doing

The only time I felt like that, was when I worked at Walmart, but when I got sick with cancer, and had to keep going to the doctors, for treatments. my manger told me to take my sick leave, and I was glad she told me, this because I wasn't going back there any way, that was my ticket out of that job, they fired me any way when I didn't come back to work, I didn't care because I didn't, like working there any way and since my cancer has gone, I feel better about working at home, I like working here online, better than working outside my home.

Hi Lilybug I think most of us have had jobs where we are always looking at the clock. As I look back I always found that sometimes having a job like this just around the corner could be a better job. If you find yourself counting the minutes change your thought to thinking my next job will be better. This too shall pass. Good luck.

I am just glad this job is a seasonal one and not one that I have to worry about quitting. It is almost over, so I will deal with it until then, but boy am I looking forward to the end. I have the other job still when this one is over, so at least I am not going to have to be out looking for a full time job to replace this or anything.

Well, after just finally finishing up and filing my Taxes on turbo tax, there is no way I would want to do this as a living, even just for a couple of months. This was something that stresses me out, and I always have a ton of questions.
As for jobs that I wish I would have never have taken, and could not stand. Personally most jobs I can remember even with the Bad days I am glad I did, except for when I worked for Fry's Electronics. Personally they are the worst company you can ever work for and very inconsiderate. They have a Lot of Bad business practices and I wonder how often someone files a complaint against them. It is so bad I can hardly ever even want to go in there and shop anymore.

Yeah lilybug, time seems go extremely slow if doing job that we completely don't have any interest. I did come across such boring situation before. I would find the job totally is not my favorite during the first few days. I realize that the more I hate to sit in front of table the slower the time will go. It's hard to tolerate but I have to bear so that I can get the pay after working for several days. I did leave one of my jobs in the first day and get nothing at all. I was glad even I had wasted the whole day time without a single penny in return. It's yet very much better than getting wage but living a torture live the whole week or month
Happy posting

this is disappointing, i could imagine. i am sure you are still performing your tasks as expected or even beyond expectations. they say it is always like that in work. we always look at the other side of the fence because the grass is green there. we are somehow never satisfied with what we have. i hope you make a good impression before leaving. this will help you find jobs that you like in the future.

Can't say have ever really disliked a job, not particularly crazy about co-workers or my bosses but the job itself have liked.
It's hard to work anywhere when the position is missrepresented. Bad form really. How they expect to keep people coming back if they put them in a position like that?

I do not have a job. Of course, if we do not like a job, it is better to leave but, it is difficult to find another job if we leave. It is because its difficult to find another job. That is why some employee are staying on their job even if they do not like it.

Sorry to hear that. Never liked when bosses lie to you. Not good at all. I hope after this tax season is over you find something better.

From my work experience so far the most important job consideration is your immediate boss. Having a good boss in a lousy company makes things tolerable, while a horrible boss in a fantastic company will still make you miserable even if you otherwise have nice colleagues. I have been lucky to generally have had nice bosses.
