Blood Pressure and alcohol?

Does cigarette and alcohol affect on BP? how much it will effect and how fast? my husband suffer with Blood pressure but can not stop those thing at all. even he used to take oily and spicy food. Doctor says a person with his BP should be admitted in the hospital but BP is not effecting on him... does any reason behind? What is happening if BP goes so high? and what is good for it and what is the most harmful for this kind of people? Thanks for sharing.
