They rape the woman while she was with her husband so maybe you would need security to feel safe as a woman .

To be honest, I dont live in India in the current moment, but i know that it is definately not easy to live there if you are a middle class or lower family. The main reason is because of this lack of security for females and the carefree attitude of the males towards law, because they think they are superior. It is sickening, but that is the main reason why alot of people dont want a daughter, as their child, no not because they hate them or they dont care about them, but mainly because of such lack of security, that when they grow up, there is no gurantee that they will be safe. It is just sick and sad that people dont care for our laws, and the main reason is because our leaders dont care for them. We have our prime minister involved in scams, and not afraid to do wrong doings, it is reflective on the people. Sad but the honestly, that is the truth.

I would love to get a set of flights visiting Cairo, Delhi overland to Southern India, Colombo, Bangkok, Manila, Sydney and home again via a different route like Dubai. I am a very experienced traveler. I learned to avoid visiting a lonely beach alone as a female. I know that daytime is safer than night time after dark. If I visited India I would look at the room and its locks before accepting it each time. I think many ladies might buy a personal alarm.

OMG , I would never ever go to India and some of my older relatives are from there and even they would never go back . I am seeing a lot of rape and some idiots have the nerve to blame the victim for not covering up from head to toe .

No question it is dangerous for girl or woman to feel safe anymore while travel to India alone after a series of rapes took place where the perp. or suspects are given so many rights to their alleged crimes and Indian criminal judicial system seem unable to deliver justice for many rape victims for so long. It even require many people go on street protest before the authority would agreed to investigate the rape only after the victims are murdered, it is a sad day for India indeed, it shows that for any girl and woman to receive basic personal protection from Indian government is just a wishful thinking on their part and for the rape victims to receive justice from the law after being victimized in the present ruling political institution is a very high order to fill. It is the beginning of the collapse on Indian's judiciary institution to deliver justice.

Rapes were always happening in India, it's just that media is more focusing on these cases after that unfortunate incident in Delhi.
Thanks to Bollywood and media for dishing the adult scenes and causing this kind of mindset in common people. In any religion if you read, even gods have made mistakes when it comes to s*x. Now if media is dishing so much of it to common people in a country of more than 1 billion population, there are bound to be a few people who will make mistakes like rape, child abuse, women abuse etc.
Punishing such individual is very important but controlling the media content is much more important to change the mentality of people in India. Unfortunately, we don't see people understanding the root cause of this issue in India and as a result of that, Se*ual abuse and violence is exponentially increasing in this country.

It is painful to know that. I am not a girl to answer this question.

A woman I care for, her daughter and grand daughter were in India. She said that they had to modify their dress - no jeans - and started to wear skirts because they were drawing too much attention.
I don't understand it either. A person should be able to control their urges.
