I am not a very religious person. I do not come to church on a regular basis but I do pray and have faith in God. I always turn to Him whenever I am going through the toughest times...
There was a time when I felt that my faith was being tested. There was this news showing that a certain person was being possessed by the Virgin mary. Honestly I do not believe in such a thing. the only possessions I believe is the otherwise. But there was a guilt feeling in my heart as if I was questioning God's miracle.
I did pray a lot and told myself that if this thing becomes an instrument in making people closer to God then let it be. Let those deserve top be punished, be punished in the end for playing as false prophets and playing God themselves no matter how they use it in drawing people closer to God.

Personally i don't believe the idea that holy person or saint spirits can ever possed other people, just demons possed people. Angel never possed people too?
I remember watching some show, that in Bali (Indonesia, most people are Hindu in Bali) there was a person who got possed by some spirit who claimed as a goddess that protects the 'holy' mountain. When some Muslem leader about to cast out the demon, some Hindu's spiritual leader stopped him, and said that the one who possed this person is a goddes that protects and rule over the holy mountain. I just laughing!
Sorry don't mean to offence u, just share some story, i respected what u choose to believe.

I do not find any offense on what you said. I do not believe in such possessions as well if you only care to look back at the top of this discussion. I mean, I do not believe that good spirits possessed people to spread the good news. But the very idea of even the demons themselves are used by god to let them go closer to Him is the main point I am giving emphasis on.

@wapewe, what country you from? Before Islam arrived, the major religion on Java island was Hindu and Buddhism, you can see from our Borobudur Temple (Buddhism) made in Sailendra Dynasty, and from our Prambanan Temple (Hindu). But before Buddhism arrived at Java, Javanese were Hindu.

Thank's for sharing.. Before I was not a very religious person but this has changed since some years ago when I got closer to God and I started being more interested in understanding and knowing His ways. I believe that there are many situations which challenges us and may put even in doubt our faith. About what you shared I believe it is wise to put things in discussion. In facts the Bible teaches us to do it because we don't know always the source of things which happens and it's written that even the devil may do some miracles masquerading himself as an angel of light (like someone who is good).
-"At the time if anyone says to you 'Look, here is the Messiah !' or 'There he is!' do not believe it. For false messiah and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive if possible, even the elect". (Matthew 24:23-24 NIV version)
-"And no wonder for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light" (2 Corinthians 11:14 NIV)
So in your case I would consider if that was truly a miracle from God or not, do you know why I say this? Because all miracles should bring people to worship God and not saints or anybodyelse even if Mary, in facts the Bible says:
-"I'm the LORD, that is my name! I will not yield my glory to another or my praise to idols" (Isaiah 42:8 NIV version) (And there are many other verses)
So the best thing we can do to understand if something is in the will of God or not is reading the Bible, there we find "the istructions" of the christian and can learn much about how God moves in our lives and what is the right thing to do. God bless you!

I firmly believe that no one could think lesser of you whether you are religious or not, besides they do not have the rights either; and so should you. A person's faith is never about the dramatics of some Stephen Kings novel or some Amityville Horror or Exorcism or paranormal.
Not that I do not believe them but I simply believe that we all have our own life to live, our work to do and people to love. If we can do just any one of them well enough, then I believe we have walked a step forward into being religious. Both of them, you are halfway to being religious and all three of them then you are totally religious, qualifying you to be the spokesman of your faith.
Think about it, it isn't easy and I am sure you will see some enlightenment here, in this virtue absent world today. Not forgetting, a different world - a much better one, if I may add.

I keep the faith very strong. There are just so many evil works around us fooling men to believe in them and renounce the faith. One of them is that possession thing, making us believe that God has spoken to them.

Hi,
I believe in God. I also pray God everyday. I feel very peaceful after praying God. we always remember God in adverse condition and forget to show gratitude when we are happy. I am also expecting miracle for my wife. She is suffering from muscular dystrophy and she has difficulty in walking and doing many things. I wish she will improve and get well soon. Only miracle can improve her because it is not curable disease.

You are a good Christian, there is no checklist that is necessary to prove you r love for God, as long as you know in your heart that you love him and you try everyday to have conversations with Jesus and you try your hardest to do good things. The key to heaven is through loving Jesus. But one thing i want to tell you is to not only pray when you are in need but pray to him to talk about your day, your feelings and all your thoughts. Pray to him as if he were your alder brother or best friend that you told everything to.

I agree with what you say. Faith is not something we should debate on. Its a personal choice and a personal relationship with the Divine Being.

We always says that our faith is tested in many ways. Like what happening to me too. Similarly with you I was tested by means of my children. My youngeSt got sick and that is not ordinary because her eyes was bitten by cat. And her eye bleed. It was scratched by my cat. That's why it bleeds. Then we pray the whole night and day. Pray and pray to God always.

Hmmm... yeah. It is better to pray to God so that you would know the answer. You see there are many miracles from other religions and there are many situations which is mostly possessed by other supernatural thing and so, it is difficult to us to know which is true. I guess the only thing to know the answer is to pray to God and if you feel its true according to your faith then, so be it.

Thanks for this discussion, all of us have faith in some unseen power that is Almighty and we call him by diff name or names based upon our religion; here in india i have seen women usually moving in processions with their followers, they move there bodies, jump dance, make faces as if some spirit in inside or they are possessed, people go near them, offer money, flower, coconuts etc, pray that their wish be granted, some think it works, but to be honest i never believed lol.

I may not be a religious person also, but like you i am into much praying. I always pray each morning i wake up and at night before going to sleep.
Along the course of the day, i get to pray by communicating to God in my mind when i see some sad scenes. I say a simple prayer of thanks always.
I have been tested big in my life. I learned that when i am tested , the more that i become closer to HIM, because to HIm i fully rely for final help when i think i have done my best already.

I think you should try to talk to God and most probably you will feel better after that. I think God really loves us all like his own children and do care for us in our lives.
