Ok...so one of my friends was to receive some monies from his aunt.
The money was sent through money order.
Its more than 2 weeks and he has not received it.
The tracking system shows that it reached the destination post office within 3 days. The comment is "Transmitted to PO"
But what is mentioned against the destination post office is ..."printed at paying office"
Thereafter, there is nothing mentioned. Nobody is lifting the phone when the head office is called.
How should he go about resolving this problem...
If you are working in any of Indian post office, or have worked in Indian post office, or any of your friends or relatives have worked in Indian post office, please help with your advise, and interpretations of the above two comments.
Thanks in advance. :)

I have had the same problem once.I had been to a town in Madhya Pradesh nearly 200 kms away from my hometown.Just a day before the day when I had to be back,a train accident took place. The tracks were damaged and the route was closed. There were no cellphones around at that time.So I sent an urgent telegraph to my home.It took about a week to get the railway tracks repaired. Then I returned home. The urgent telegraph arrived at my home fifteen days after my arrival.

if possible,go to consumer court. They will help your friend's aunt. I studied about this in my economic textbook. To file case in the court, you need to go to nearest consumer forum.. If this does not help, you can do as what the first commenter said.

Big or small there are many loops in Indian official and administrative systems. There is a saying 'to pick cheaters the whole village becomes empty'. So how many loops you can stitch ? It is about a impossible task to repair Indian administrative and official system.

To be fair to the people who have been extremely helpful to me in the past, and to this friend now, these people in government jobs are afraid to do wrong as its their head in the line of fire. So they prefer avoiding risks and taking a call when any decisions are needed. Out here, I am not disappointed with their services. But my friend is...:(

Dear Vandy
Thanks for this discussion, this is another examples why i hate when people say, we are proud to be Indian, i got a letter from government that i am to receive 80,000 towards some arrears before 31st March, but i must get a letter from the college i worked last as Principal, to the effect that it was not paid--see the fun, i was retd in Jan 2006, this arrears is sanctioned in 2010; any way i talked to the present Principal to issue a non-drawl certificate, he says his office sent it on 16th March by SPEED POST, that place is 50 kms away, it should reach in 24 hours at best, but today is 27th march, it is still on way, there is 2 holidays for holi, this is india and we say we are proud to be indian

Right now ...there is nothing to feel ...proud to be Indian...especially with the series of rapes that our country seems to be springing each day.
I wouldnt be surprised if it is a disgruntled political party that is instigating those rapes. Because three and a half months later, there are no convictions, even with fast court.
But to be fair...the local post offices are nice. They too have their rules and regulations, and are afraid to bend them. But the guys and gals in the post office out here have been gems.
