Some idiot threw a bottle of water at me.

I have no clue why anyone one would do this. I'm heading home from work on my bike and and a bottle goes flying quite close past me, bounces off the curb and rolls out into traffic where a car hits it. The lid blew off sending water all over the road. The car is full of a bunch of young punks. I gestured with my mitten as if to say, "What the hell was that about?" and the driver gives me the finger. They were just out of range for me to get the license number and I wasn't able to get close enough at the next light before it turned green. I was incensed to say the least. That is unbelievably dangerous. If it hits me in the head (even though I wear a cycling helmet) or hits me anywhere going through a rut in the pavement I'm going for a tumble and will likely be hurt pretty bad. Next time they do something stupid like that I hope the police see them or someone gets there number and makes a complaint.

I am so sorry for your bad experience with those irresponsible people. But I am glad that you are not hurt. It is really dangerous that you may tumble and got hurt. Some of the driver can be nasty to cause hurts to others. There was once I saw a car speeding through a pool of water beside a pillion driver. This poor pillion driver was splashed and got wet allover with the water [em]thumbdown[/.em]. How insensible the driver is....He could have watched and pay serious attention ahead of the road and slow down so the impact would not be that great.

This winter one of the city buses hit a puddle and soaked my wife and youngest son. Some people don't care and others really aren't paying attention. Every once in awhile though someone does something really nice. I was riding home on the bike once and a fire hydrant was broken turning the road into a shallow lake. I watched a car go through ahead of me and send a wall of water across where I was about to ride. A black pickup truck right behind him blocked traffic while I rode through there. I was grateful. I'm thankful I wasn't hurt. I just hope they don't ever do something stupid like that again.

Even in a car that kind of startle could be dangerous. I come home at midnight and I had a car full of young creeps come up really close and blast a horn and lean out a window and scream and I swear I came out of my skin. I do not know how I would handle a water bottle or anything else being thrown at me. It seems us mature adults are becoming targets.

Little kids are another vulnerable target. It makes the perpetrators feel so smug and big and powerful.

It could have been more dangerous. That bottle could have contained an acid or drain cleaner that would have perhaps damaged you. Also throwing at a great distance, the bottle becomes a projectile that may cause you to get in an accident. I do hope the next time, something like that happens, that someone does call the police.

The thing is when one is driving on a bicycle, it is harder to reach for your cellphone. That means you have to have a good memory and report them to the police.

If I was driving in my van and the car in front of me pulled a stunt like that I would have gotten the number and lodged the complaint. No one on a bicycle should have to worry about some idiot doing something like that.

I hope they don't ever do that again and if they do they get caught. There are riders who would panic at the near miss and possibly steer into the curb and get badly hurt. If I saw someone do that to one of my kids, I'd be out for blood.

I don't know who the hell gets satisfaction out of throwing stuff at random people. It's just rude and idiotic. It was a slightly different case, but once I was working at a mall on the downmost floor at a counter, and once, I realized that someone threw a gummy candy from the first floor... onto the top of my head. I'm not sure if they really aimed at me, or they just thought it was fun to throw gummy candy from the first floor. It just irks me so much. I'm pretty sure it was done by some idiotic teens who used the mall as their meeting place, and wanted to look cool by doing pointless and "random"(=stupid) things. Just to think about that that there are kids starving in countries, and some stupid teens buy the expensive pack of candies, and just throw them away for fun...

The highschool I attended was five stories high. The fifth floor just had an unused greenhouse where we were not allowed to go. The main stairwell had a gap between the stairs that went from top to bottom. You wouldn't believe the stuff that got thrown down that for kicks. Granted no one was ever throwing things down there trying to hit someone else. I'm amazed that never led to any injuries though. Gummy in the hair isn't my idea of a good time either.

Wow, i'm surprised things like this are still happening. It's kinda sad that all our technology and information is advancing but many people aren't.. What those people did was irresponsible but the annoying part is that most people cant do anything about them.

These people are nuisance and have nothing better to do. To them, they may think it is fun but they did not bother to think that it may cause hurts to someone...They are being irresponsible [em]thumbdown[/.em]

I was far from perfect at that age but I would have never done something intentionally that would risk hurting another person especially a stranger. Someone wasn't taught much about responsibility growing up.

I suppose that it is there idea of fun. I just don't get it as accidents are caused from these stupid incidents. and what is worse is that they think it is funnyTotal idiots and I do hope that they are caught and it is a pity that you did not get their license number so that they could be reported. When questioned for stupid things like this these macho guys lose some of their bravado instantly. They need to be caught and face the cosequences so that they do not do it again. Community service would be a good punishment

I would like to see them caught and do community service. People like this usually aren't very macho in fact their cowards. None of them would ever dare face me man to man. They were lucky that light turned green and don't face any punishment. Maybe they would have been better off caught. Then maybe they would have learned a lesson before they didn't something more stupid.

That is where the trouble starts with punks thinking they can get away with cruel and stupid so called "pranks" that can kill or maim. Some people are idiots. They'll just grow up and raise more little idiots unless their kid is actually smarter than them, it is possible. I I'm glad you weren't hurt or worse. I do hope they get caught if they try that again, this world needs to be weeded out and all the morons go onto another planet and torture themselves, and leave us peaceful people alone.

One of these days someone like this is going to do something like this where I have a chance for retaliation. Not saying it's the right thing to do, but you'd be amazed how much body work I could inflict on a car with my steel toed boots. With years of cycling I can kick like a mule.

during the christmas season, the sidewalks here get even more crowded because the number of sidewalk vendors double. one time, a streetkid was playing with an empty water bottle, tossing it up and catching it, and of all the people passing by, i got hit on the cheek. of course i got mad and gave the kid the evil eye who just looked at me. a woman, also a sidewalk vendor, i don't know if she's the parent, even said, see what you've done? it's really useless to expect any of them to say sorry. at the same time, you realize you feel sorry for them because they live on the street.
