Well I got surprised with my improvement in understanding English when watching English programs in television even listening music lyrics. One day I sat to our couch and power on our television and set it to ANC, then suddenly in my surprised I can able to comprehend vividly what the anchor is saying unlike before that I can't understand some words and the other term they're using in their English but now it's amazing although it still not a piece of cake but of course the most important is I know I'm gaining some progress. I also tried watching documentaries and the same thing happened, I listened to many podcast and I can also understand them clearly, it was a great feeling. Had you ever experienced this before? One day you woke up and then suddenly you have a clear comprehension now of your second language unlike before that was not. And any method you're using to practice your comprehension skill?

I just really wondering how can other people really made it quickly as they can learn English easily, what is their secret? Anyway, more important is I can enjoy now watching hollywood movies than before, I'll keep what I'm doing to learn more in future.

yes this is great... and constant conversation can easily help us to improve more. I started chatting to improve on my conversational English... started with typing then oral conversation... I practiced with Native English Speakers, I have spoken with the one with really bad grammar, the other one with bad nasal twang and the others are OK. nevertheless having conversation no matter how they conversed doesn't really matter. I welcomed these with nasal twang and the ones whom with difficult to understand really because they are "eating" the words and too slang. but still it is okay we need to experience these kinds too because not all people speak the way we wanted them to speak.
Now joining sites like mylot also will help us improve on their language.

I can't keep myself laughing while reading your comment becoz believe me I know the feeling, you did converse with many people with a unique way of speaking English, I think that's because of their local language that made them to speak English in unnatural sound the same thing with Filipino. Anyway, I can totally agree about this method you mentioned how effectively it is in honing everyones English capability. Conversing to other people who also practicing English can really help you in boosting your confidence, pronounciation and especially your vocabulary. I also had an experience before speaking with some vietnamese, and of course at first it's hard to listen with them becoz of their accent but as time goes by I become use of how they speak.

Congrats on you! English is one of the hardest languages to learn. If you can get that down then you can learn anything. I am American and I sometimes scratch my head..like how in the world is anyone to really learn this? There is so so much slang and so many words that sound the same but different spelling changes the meaning. I'm glad that I came by this language naturally. I sure would not want to have to learn it from scratch. Good job Axlrae!

Great, good for you that English become your native language atleast if you wanted to connect to other people around the world you can easily doing it. I agree with you about all of the hard part of English, I'm learning this language since elementary but I become serious only this last year, that's why I'm having difficulties acquiring it. Good thing I learned some of thing in English before, that made some to be easy for me to learn unlike Korean language that I'm just starting from scratch.

Listening to music or movies can help in improving the language. But personaly, I feel that reading books can improve the language to a higher extent. Books can be read slowly. When we read slowly we can catch the difficult words and find out their meanings. We can also grasp the grammar.
